Kosher Food in DisneyWorld is now being made by Borenstein Caterers in Queens, NY. All Kosher Meals are frozen meals that are heated up for you in a microwave. You can get Kosher food without a reservation at the following quick service locations:

Magic Kingdom - Cosmic Ray's Starlight

Epcot - Sunshine Seasons (Important Note: Sunshine Seasons only serves hot meals until 4 PM. If you would like to get a kosher meal for dinner, check with the Chef before 4 PM to see what time they will be there until. When I was there, the Chef said he was there until 6 PM)

Hollywood Studios - Rosie's All American Cafe in the Farmers Market on Sunset Boulevard

Animal Kingdom - Satu'li Canteen in Pandora Land

It is important to realize that the selection of meals will vary by park and the day you are there. When I was there, Animal Kingdom had every one of the options available while Magic Kingdom only had the burger.

In the next posts I will show pictures of the packaging form the meals.

The Beef Brisket was $14.99, the hot dog was $11.79, and the meatloaf was $14.99.

Strangely enough, the burger was $13.49 in Hollywood Studios but the exact same meal was $18.99 in Animal Kingdom. (see my receipts below). I'm not sure why they were different prices or if it was a mistake.

I have to ask - are they any good? They don't look that good, expecially for 18 bucks. I understand that those who need these meals don't have a lot of options, but it would be nice if Disney could offer something a little better. Do the regularly offered plant-based options also suffice?

Disney can provide both Kosher AND Halal meals at all table service restaurants, as well as the quick serve locations mentioned above. If eating at a table service restaurant and wanting a Kosher or Halal meal, it needs to be mentioned before dining there - at least 24 hours in advance.

The Kosher meals are always prepared by a certified Kosher provider - for the very strict of either faith, the rules are far stricter than simply avoiding certain food types - there are rules about using any shared cookware, utensils, having foods certified and inspected by someone of the faith, etc. The prepared meals Disney provides will come with seals intact, and sealed utensils that are also Kosher. How strict the diner is about Kosher will make the difference - non-orthodox conservative Jews who generally try to follow basic kosher rules may be flexible about vegan meals being an acceptable substitute even if not officially certified or without confirming no cookware ever touched other non-Kosher foods. The very strict orthodox would be the ones who need to order the sealed, certified meals to ensure strict adherence to all Kosher rules and laws.

Typically Halal meals are slightly easier to prepare since they usually don't require a Muslim to have done the cooking or inspections - they do require avoidance of all the restricted foods (alcohol, pork, blood, etc), and if they DO use meats, they need to have been slaughtered by a sharp knife across the throat by a Muslim invoking Allah...if the meats are sourced from a Halal certified vendor, the kitchen can follow the Halal rules and prepare them - otherwise, a vegan option avoiding meats altogether should suffice, as long as the other rules are followed. Disney still requests advance notice if eating Halal at any table service restaurant so they can have dedicated cookware and utensils...and they can either provide a certified Halal protein from a vendor, or prepare a substitute protein such as seafood or plant-based.
