Kosher eating in Disney

Has anyone done this recently or know someone who has? I'm debating whether to try it or just stick to the kosher restaurant outside Disney that I've read about that has gotten great reviews and visit Publix to pick up a few things here and there. I know how it's done....sit down restaurants need to be called in advance....select quick service restaurants you can just walk in and order...but the wait is about 10 minutes as they have to microwave everything.

I'm just curious on other opinions. I'm thinking we'll just stick to the restaurant outside of Disney and bring in snacks while in the parks since Disney allows that now.

Kosher dietary needs can be accommodated at most table-service restaurants. Request kosher meals 24 hours in advance at (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call. Kosher food products are available at select merchandise locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort.

Exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you. Maybe we'll do a meal at Cosmic Ray's and the Pizza at Pizzafari and stick to snacks otherwise. We'll visit the kosher restaurant outside of Disney where are choices are numerous!

Thank you for the links, helps a lot. I've read really bad reviews about Kosher Kats and Lower East Side....so I'm sticking to Cohen's Deli in which I've read nothing but GREAT reviews. Might try one of the kosher meals in our resort the night we arrive just to see what they taste like. All the All Star Resorts offer kosher meals. Will definitely do the pizza at Pizzafari in AK.

Lower East Side lacks ambience and has unpredictable but usually bad service. On the other hand, the food is very good and the portions are huge. One other odd thing -- the price of a bowl of soup or a side salad is insane, something like $10.

Our only encounter with Kosher Kats was when we placed a large prepared food order for Passover. THe price was reasonable, the food was good to very good, and they delivered on time.

I'm not paying $10 for a side salad or a bowl of soup. I've looked at Cohen's menu and it's very reasonable. I know eating kosher is expensive to begin with, but I'm not gonna go broke in Disney doing it.
Please let me know your encounters with kosher eating upon your return, I'd greatly appreciate it. And if you visit Cohen's will you PLEASE ask them why they don't return phone calls or emails??!! Trying to find out if they are open on Purim as that is the first day we arrive there on the 20th of March. If they aren't, we'll just visit Publix and pick up some sandwich meat, bread, mayo, and chips and go that route.

I may have to look over my reviews of Kosher Kats once again...make sure I've got the right place with the bad reviews. Delivery sounds awesome! IF Cohen's would answer their phones.

But they do not have kosher kitchens there, so all the food is just pre-made packaged items they special order for your visit.

Knowing this, I would not want to bother paying Disney prices for something that will probably be of questionable taste, quality, and freshness. If you're going bother going to a restaurant, don't you want to have the food they actually cook there?

I would try the off site kosher places and cook for yourself.

I understand all that. I've gotten to eat in several Disney restaurants before we went to the level of kosher we are now. I've had food at Cosmic Ray's and enjoyed it thoroughly, but if I can stop in after a few hours in the park and pick up something that my family can eat til we get to the kosher restaurant that's what I want to do.
I'm not interested in doing table service for the very reason you mentioned above. Don't want a pre-packaged meal for what they charge. Counter service...different story. You've told me things I've already researched, that I already knew, and that I've already considered. But thanks anyway.
Also, I'm on vacation...I don't WANT to cook for myself. I do enough of that at home BECAUSE of our kosher eating and there being NO kosher restaurants in our area.

We've done it several times, sorta. DH prefers to keep kosher (I was not raised that way but keep a kosher home for him, but I digress). We get the meal plan because we like to take the kids to character meals. The food is pretty good but choices are limited. TS have the same choices everywhere you go: entree selections are chicken, brisket, pasta, salmon. Desserts are parve (apple streudel or chocolate cake). The kids love the matzo ball soup. It's fine, so long as you're not going for 2 weeks. They bring all the paper goods sealed. We typically go 4-5 days so he has no issue with this selection.

CS they have burgers, chicken, corned beef, some sort of hot dog, can't remember the other options. Again, it's tasty but I believe the same from place to place. Our first trip we got a car and went off site but the choices weren't so good and it was inconvenient, he's found it worthwhile to just eat on site.

We go to Disney every year and keep strictly kosher. I LOVE the fact that they offer the kosher meals although when we go for long trips, it can get pretty tiring.
The resorts offer a lot more options than the parks do. Other than Pizzafari, you can't get a dairy meal at any of the quick service locations in the parks, but the resorts offer mac and cheese, eggs, blintzes, lasagna etc.
The meals really aren't that bad and it's really convenient!
