Korissa's Magical MAW/GKTW PTR....4 HUGE Big Give (2-18-11)..page 40

Still no BM. They are going to another xray soon. Waiting for them to do the PICC. She already lost the first one at 2:30 this morning. This one is already looking puffy. Last night she spiked a 104.5 fever, so the put her on ice and turn down the heater and gave some Tylenol. This morning her temp was down, but just spiked another 103. She just had more Tylenol. She just had a clown in. His name is Pun. He was actually at the MDA camp that Kylee went too last Summer, so she knew him. She tried her hardest to laugh.

Yes...I can finally say this...We are going on our trip next month!!!!

first off, sorry to hear Kylee is still not feeling better....great smile though she shared!

happy that your trip is a realty, hope it brings some much needed magic, fun and happiness to you all!

When you say PICC line do you mean a central line in her arm (bicept), or a normal IV in her hand or arm? I only ask because you said PICC line but then said that she lost it and her current one is puffy - which isn't what happens with a PICC line. I'm confused, lol...then again, i'm so sleep deprived that not much will confuse me these days. ;) I posted an update in my PTR about our appt yesterday, and her surgery today. Feel free to check it out if you want. :)

I hope the little lady is feeling better soon. I hate it when our babes are stuck in the hospital and not feeling well. :(

Right now she has just an IV. She is a hard stick and IVs don't last longer than 12hours. The last stay in December they did a PICC line at beside with some versed. Unfortunately they tried at the PICC and it didn't work. The problem with this hospital is there is only 1 doctor that does PICC lines. This needs to change. He is booked all week. Now they are going to try to do it on an emergency bases. This means bump some one else. They don't want nor do we want a permanently place a line due to infections.

Poor thing. :( Peanuts veins are crap too, infact they can't get much anymore from her because there is so much scar tissue. One of the reasons (there were quite a few though), that she got the PICC line and now, Port. How has she been today? Any idea on how long she'll be in for? Just out of curiosity (because its interesting to see how other hospitals work), how can they do a PICC line bedside? They need live x-ray (or whatever it is they use) to be able to see where the guide wire is going, to make sure its in the right spot. Thats too bad that they only have one radiologist who can do it at your hospital, definitely makes it harder to have one placed should she need it longer term.

I'm so sorry to hear that things are trying...I hope that things change for the positive here soon and that you can get out and get home.... Take care and I'm thinking of you all.

I'm checking in too....sending extra BIG dose of pixie dust and prayers!!

They can do PICC lines at bedside. They usually do them on older kids(10 and up), but since last admission was during Christmas they couldn't take her to IR. They gave her some Versed and it worked. They then took her to get a Xray to make sure it was in the right spot. This time she couldn't do it. Only her left arm has a good vein to do a PICC line and unfortunate the night before they did a blood test and it caused a bruise on that vein and she couldn't thread the wire. She will now go down to IR tomorrow to get the PICC line placed since they are starting TPN tonight. She has already went through 4 IVs

Thank you Brooke:hug:
sorry to hear she is still sick and having line problems :sad1:

Thank you:hug:

Kylee tested positive for Influenza B. Her fevers has been down today, but creeping up again. These high fevers are really draining her. Today is also day 8 of no BM:scared1:. I think being sick is shutting her motility more. Tomorrow she is going down to get her PICC line placed. They are going to start TPN tonight since she can't eat anything. Really she hasn't even asked to eat. I have a feeling this is going to be a long admission:sad2:. I'm also feeling bad that Korissa was sick last week and just chalked it up to her normal sickness:sad1:. She probably had this too. Thankfully not as bad as Kylee... or I would of brought her in. Come to think about it..Korissa did go to Ped and she was sick then and I said something, but the Ped didn't do anything. Now I'm mad:mad: She should of been on Tamiflu. Now Kerri is sick. Thankfully she and Steven has Ped appts(first visit with this new Ped) and I'm going to tell Scott to tell ped to put them on the Tamiflu. They are starting Tamiflu on Kylee tonight.

I hope the med's kick in and she feels better soon....and everyone else stays healthy too, you all are so in need of this trip to WDW and a much needed break from the dr's and hospital stays.
will keep you all in our prayers!!!!
