Ok. The price at captain cooks is way cheaper than at Kona. What is the difference? Is the portion size really that different? I really want to try the Tonga Toast but if I'm shelling out at Kona for it I don't want to miss the same thing for cheaper somewhere else.
Thanks!

The Kona Tonga Toast comes with a strawberry compote that is not included at Captain Cooks. I believe that is the only difference.

I think at Kona it comes with a side meat choice too. (Which I would pass on anyway.) $12.99 vs $5.99 is a huge difference for a little strawberry compote! I was thinking maybe at CC it is a small slice of bread.

what exactly is tonga toast?

we go to kona on every trip but have never tried it.

It's basically a big chunk of cinnamon-covered french toast with banana inside. It tastes a lot better than I'm making the description sound, though. :thumbsup2

It does come with the strawberry compote and also a side at Kona. You can do a meat with it. As a vegetarian, they offered me fruit or potatoes instead of the meat .

As others have said, the only real difference is the strawberry compote. But for me that compote is what brings together the dish. Can't imagine eating Tonga Toast without covering it in the yummy compote.

And the coffee at Kona is so so good too.

We love the Tonga Toast and get it on most every trip to WDW.

The PP's are correct, it is only the addition of the small sides at Kona - we always get our Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks - for the price difference and the time saved by going to CC instead of a sit-down restaurant, it works best for our family.

Whatever you choose - enjoy the Tonga Toast!!:)

Just FYI, if you are using a CS credit, you still can choose Bacon or sausage at Capn Cooks. This is a must do for us every time, and yes, it is the full size Texas Toast type bread at Capn Cooks too! By the way, it is delicious!! We share a plate, it is so big. The stuffing is wonderful!
