I was under the impression that Kona is a TS. Is this true? If not, can you make reservations? Is it worth making a point to eat there? We are on the DDP and are already eating at 'Ohana but some of the meals look amazing.

Kona Cafe is a table service restaurant and they do take ADR's

I'm sure it would be possible to walk up, but personally I would make an ADR so you know you have a table

We love eating at Kona Cafe, and can't wait to do it again in June

Kona to me is one of the most underrated restaurants in Disney. We stayed at the Poly and at there twice (once for breakfast and once for dinner). I believe it's one TS credit but definately worth it. We're staying at the GF in August but I plan on eating there again. The Tonga Toast for breakfast is phenomenal and for dinner I had an excellent steak. Also, at dinner, you can substitute your appitizer (if you're on the DDP) for some sushi from the coffee bar that becomes a sushi bar in the afternoons. Definately worth a visit IMO.

You might be confusing the Poly restaurants.

Kona Cafe - TS serving all three meals

Kona Coffee Bar/Sushi Stand - QS - hours very random, when it's open - the best coffee on WDW property. You can sit at the bar here and order off the Kona Cafe menu

'Ohanas - TS serving character breakfast and non-character dinner

Captain Cooks - QS serving all three meals. You can get the famous Tonga Toast here as well as Dole Whips. Worth a trip!

Our last few trips, we couldn't get a walk-up to the Kona Cafe, the place was packed. This trip we have a dinner ADR. It's been getting very good reviews.

Captain Cooks menu looks good too. Heard their chicken lo mein is excellent!:thumbsup2

Amen!:worship:

Kona was the best meal we ate the entire trip. Definitely save some money for the mixed drinks. The dessert selection was also tops.

It is one TS credit, and they do take ADR's.

Kona Cafe is a Sunday tradition in our family. We do make ADRs for it. I must tell you that it is quite easy to gain a walk up spot for lunch at least.

KOna is a wonderful TS restaurant. You used to be able to walk up and get a table whenever you wanted. Now it is much busier and we were turned away a handful of times a few weeks ago.

Breakfast at Kona Cafe is great -- especially the Tonga Toast. When we went a few weeks ago, it wasn't overly busy at 9am, but I'd make a reservation just to be sure!

Kona is a must! I would make an ADR. We went last Oct. and guest was trying to do a walk in and getting turned away. We ate there twice last year (Breakfast and Dinner) we are doing the same thing this Sept.

Love Kona for b,l and dinner. It's been great for years but the secret does seem to be out.

We never ever miss breakfast there even if not staying at the Polynesian. We always make reservations for breakfast and dinner.

The coffee bar is always open in the am...I think until 11am. The hours have never seemed random to me.:confused3 At dinner time, it becomes a sushi bar. You can also order the sushi if having dinner at Kona Cafe.

We also really enjoy this restaurant and try to get there every trip.
Yes, do go and do make ADR's. :thumbsup2

Kona Cafe is a must do for us every trip. We'll be having lunch and dinner there during our June trip.
