Which would you prefer, and why? We are thinking Kona menu looks better but Wave gets some good reviews. We have never eaten dinner at either. We are three adults, 2 kids on kids menu, and a 10 year old that prefers simple foods.
Sorry I can't help w/the Wave but we truly enjoyed our dining experience last week at Kona. We ranked it as one of our favorites. My rib-eye was wonderfully prepared & melted in my mouth, DH enjoyed the Tuna Oscar, my dessert was divine & the boys loved the Kona Kone.
I did both Kona and the Wave earlier this year in a all girls trip. To try and mix it up and try something new I mad the suggestion to the group that we try the Wave. The menu seemed acceptable and everyone agreed. The appearance and decor of the Wave is nice. I like the idea that there is a focus on the environment and sustainability...but the enjoyment ends there. The food is over-priced and not prepared well. The bread was good and I think everyone at our table filled our tummies with bread as we pushed our steaks and seafood around the plate. When we were asked if we wanted to dessert we all practically screamed no! We'd had enough and didn't want to see what kiind of horror would come out of the kitchen.
Try Kona, it's loud and doesn't have the same ambiance but you will get a good meal.
I'm thinking I'll do Kona as my first choice then, thank you! As many breakfasts as I've eaten at Kona and it's predecessor at that location, I've never tried a dinner!
Kona, Kona, Kona......We just came back from a seven day trip and we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner and Kona and it was great. We wanted to cancel all of our other resevations and eat at Kona everyday but we didn't.
Definitely Kona. We ate at both the Wave and Kona on our trip the end of May and we all loved Kona - the best dinner we had all trip.
The ambiance at the Wave is great, but as a prior poster said, the good vibes did not carry over to the food. My mom and I had the Lamb shank and I did not care for it at all (not much flavor, and what little it did have was not to my taste). My dad had the cinnamon rubbed pork chop and my DH the flank steak - both were decent, but nothing to write home about.
We had to wait for almost an hour to be seated at Kona, but despite our state of unrest when we were seated, we all really enjoyed our meals. If you are on the dinning plan, I got a virgin pina colada as my drink and it was wonderful
... if yes, then Kona all the way!! We did Kona two trips ago, and now I don't think I'll ever skip it! I love the meal selections, but the desserts are TO DIE FOR! Plus, I love that Poly ambiance.
