Kona or Le Cellier?

Ok here's my situation... me, DH, DS5, DS3... 5 day trip in June, 3 days in the parks, 2 at the pool. We go quite often so we're really not too concerned with what we actually get to ride.

First day in the parks is for MK... arrive for EMH since my kids get up early. Our original plan is to head over to Epcot after MK for a 2:40pm lunch at Le Cellier. We have never eaten there, and I have been wanting to try it, but the recent reviews are scaring me off a bit (plus I wanted to get the steak, but hate mushrooms, so now my choice is gone). I figured after lunch we'd hit a little of Epcot... it's late EMH, but I can't imagine we'd make it much past 6pm anyway, so I think that's not too much of a crowd issue.

So if I want to give up on Le Cellier, I thought we would stay in MK longer (since that very likely may be the only MK part of our trip, and I'm not sure 1 day until 1pm is enough, even with the few things we want to ride)... and then take the boat over to have dinner at Kona, I got a 5pm ADR. We'd probably head back to the hotel after that, since I doubt my kids would make it longer.

Any thoughts??? Le Cellier vs. Kona (we have never eaten at either). I want to decide soon so I can give up my "extra" ADR. Thanks for the input!

never eaten at kona so couldnt say but you know you could ask for the steak without the mushrooms at le cellier?

My vote definitely goes to Kona... the food is WAY, WAY, WAY better than Le Cellier. Have you been to 'Ohana? I think Kona's food is much better, but 'Ohana is more fun for the little ones since they can engage in activities so they're not tied to the dinner table the whole time (plus you can watch fireworks if you time it right).

Kona is fantastic. Le Cellier is too, but I think the 2:40 ADR time is hard with little ones as well. I'd spend your time at MK and head over to the Poly.

I'd go to Kona for dinner. The steak teryaki is really delicious. Have fun!:goodvibes

I'd vote Kona - its is also fun to take a quick walk on the beach before or after eating there to take in the Hawai'ian vibe.

Another vote for Kona and we have dined at both. IHO there is lots of hype on LeCellier, especially with the growing DDP crowd, which exceed the dining experience. Let the kids eat lite and take advantage of one of the fun desserts Kona offers

Considering your children's ages MK is the park they will most likely want to spend the majority of their time, so Kona fits better in to returning to MK too.
It also lets you see the MK from the PR where you can take either the resort monorail to the MK or the resorts water launch directly to the MK dock.

Our kids are close to you kids ages and you just need to watch how their holding up. Midday breaks are good and tend to allow the kids to continue enjoying rides, parades, fireworks, special late night events into the evening hours. Best advice...if their not having fun..you won't either.

It sounds like Kona will fit your schedule better, but don't let the reviews of others scare you away from Le Cellier if you really want to try it... it may end up being one of the best meals you've ever had.
I think that both locations have very good offering, so.....

Whichever you choose, enjoy your meal and enjoy your trip :)

I too had heard raves reviews about Le Cellier so I got an ADR there and while it was ok, I walked away wondering what all of the hype was about. Last year I went to Kona for the first time and LOVED it.
My vote would be for Kona. Plus it sounds like it may work better into the flow of you day.
Have a great time!

Just thought I would let anyone know who doesn't eat mushrooms, like me, I ordered my steak at Le Cellier a couple of weeks ago without the mushrooms without any issues. I asked the server if they could do this since I can't stand the taste and texture of any mushroom and they were happy to do it.

I would pick Kona. We ate at both on our trip last year and Kona hands down was one of our favorite. We liked LeCellier, but we are not going to dine there on our next trip.

We've never eaten at Le Cellier, but Kona is AWESOME :cool1: :cool1: They have the best prime rib and filet:thumbsup2

i have an ADR for Cellier for sept-- ate there in Jan and LOVED it now thinking i should switch to KONA yikes!!!!!! :goodvibes

Kona Cafe for sure! Le Cellier is not one of my dining preferences...

i LOVE filet and yesterday someone said they've taken it off the menu @ Cellier, true???
