We've never been to either (except the bar for a Lapu Lapu :thumbsup2) and I hear such great things about both. We have done the Cape May Breakfast several times and we love Buffets, but the sound of macadamia pineapple pancakes and GOOD coffee make me rethink buffet breakfast! I forgot what the favorite item at Boma is to make everyone love that one.
So which one is your vote?

I've been to both restaurants for breakfast and dinner, and both were very good. However, I prefer Kona over Boma for breakfast. The pancakes and French press coffee are soooo yummy. If you're a coffee lover you should definitely go there. Maybe try Boma for dinner. That's when DH and I usually go.:)

You can't go wrong with either one. Boma is a must-do for us tho. I'm not huge on sweet breakfasts & Boma has more interesting savory options. Kona has more on the sweet side.

If you are looking for the sweet stuff, head to Kona. If savory is what you're after, Boma is a better choice, IMHO.

I love kicking the day off with breakfast at Kona......the Tonga toast (French toast with banana inside)....great fresh fruits and the best coffee in Disney. Puts you in perfect position for a quick monorail ride to MK.
Boma is also great....we've made that a dinner must-do.

Love them both. I like the fact that at Boma you can try a little bit of lots of things. Tonga Toast almost sent me into a sugar coma.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Ko-na! Ko-na! Ko-na!

You don't *need* to do Tonga Toast - like you said, the macadamia nut pancakes (best pancakes I've ever eaten) and coffee are reason enough to go there - not to mention the lilikoi juice...:cloud9:

I can't wait!!!

They are both awesome, Boma is our favorite with Kona a very close second.

Usually we save Boma for our departure day, we eat a late breakfast and that keeps us going until dinner at home. Since we really pig out here it is too much for us to go right to a park after, I would have to be dragged around!

Kona is great, not too heavy for a park day.

Oh man, that makes it even tougher! I love savory, but my dh and dk's love pancakes and french toast. That is a great idea to make Boma a last day breakfast. Another reason for us to find a later flight. We may have to do both! Thanks for the ideas :)

Aak! I'm wondering the same thing myself.

I love breakfasts/breakfast buffets, but Kona sounds really good. I'm thinking the potential downside there is NOT liking what I order but being stuck w/it, kwim? At least at Boma I can try different things.

Part II - We're booked at Chef Mickey's for lunch. Too much too soon too close together?

Just FYI since you mentioned it, the coffee at Boma is pretty good--you can get a French press of African coffee for extra $ I think, but the standard included coffee is decent, and they've always offered to make a to-go cup of it for us.

Boma wins hands down on atmosphere.

@WDWBabe, yes, unless it's an early breakfast and then quite a late lunch. I'd say minimum of 5-6 hours in between is necessary and don't count on eating dinner. Usually when we eat breakfast at Boma, we skip lunch and have an early dinner.

Thanks. After I read this I realized we didn't have last-day breakfast plans, so opted for Boma then.

TY! :)

I am a huge fan of Boma. Keep in mind a couple of things:

1. Kona is off menu, so you order an entree and that's all you get, one shot deal, no food refills and your variety will come with sharing.

2. Boma is a buffet, so you can try any and everything and do so as many times as you like. Seems everyone finds something that draws them back for seconds and beyond at Boma. For me its the roasted tomatoes and french toast.

3. If budget is an issue check the menus, but you'll probably spend a bit less at Kona. We were on the DP, but paid to return to Boma last trip as cash guest; yes it was worth it.

As for the sweet at Boma:
- French Toast their is heavenly, even w/o the warm syrup they offer
- Full bar of pastries, bread that can be sweet
- cereals, fruit and yogurt made with fresh fruit

Made to order omlettes, omlette of the day, multiple scrambled egg choices.
Boma has press pots of Kenyan coffee, but you cannot have breakfast at Boma w/o having the frunch, an amazing fruit juice beverage.

Suffering from the same decision too!

I made ADRs for Boma but everyone keeps saying great things about Kona. I've never been to both, and Boma is for our last day before we head out. My DBF is a big eater so I think he would like Boma. Plus, I wanted to explore AKL since I've never been over there before.

I just keep hearing these great things about Tonga Toast and the coffee and stuff, but I think I want to go to Boma for the atmosphere and the wiiide, all-you-can-eat selection!

Exactly!

We love both places - The Tonga toast at Kona is awesome and very filling.
Boma is good too, but we prefer to go there for dinner. You can't go wrong with either!

<drool>

If Imaginears can do all the magical stuff they do throughout the World, then would it be too much to ask that Boma can serve up some Tonga toast - if only for the day I'm there? LOL.

Thanks for the help!
