Tell me about Kona Island Sushi Bar

I've seen the menu on allears, but no other info. My PassPorter
dosen't mention it at all.

I'm guessing it's adjacent to Kona Cafe and that it's a walk up bar. I've only been to Kona 1 time but sort of have a mental picture, can you explain to me where it is. Also does it get crowded? We will be staying at Poly in Dec arriving on a Fri. I'd like to have dinner at the resort w/o having a big meal. I know Tambu Lounge also has apps. just exploring our options.

It's to the left of Kona, if you are facing Kona. '

I've never seen too many people there. I'd not have sushi there, but that's just me. (Too fussy by half).

The sushi menu is pretty limited and very specialized. But you don't have to order sushi there. They will also serve you the Kona Cafe menu there.

I have been there multiple times and my favorite Sushi on their menu is the Volcano Roll.

They have a limited menu but the quality is good, as was the service when I have been. The volcano roll is very good. It has never been crowded when I've been, but is has been busy.

Quick question - Can you get items to go from the sushi bar? I'm the only one in my family who wants to eat there. It'd be great if I could just stop by as we're leaving MK and pick up something to take back to our resort.

I have seen others who have ordered Sushi as take-out.

It's a coffee bar in the morning and converts to a Sushi bar for dinner. The definitely will do carry out. However, I think it doesn't open until 5 p.m. for dinner and does not serve lunch.

OP here.
Thanks for the replies. Now that I know it's the coffee bar I know exactly where it is. It sounds perfect for our needs, we are pretty light eaters and usually sit in the bar of any restaurant we visit. Thanks to the pp who said we could order from Kona. Unless they have free dinning next Dec we may have several dinners between there and Tambu, Disney TS meals are way too big for us.

Sounds like a plan. :) Tambu also doesn't serve food until after 5 (When Ohana opens.) We didn't know this and were bummed. It was about 4:25 when we asked. We were looking for food to go with our wonderful drinks and wanted to order some wings.

I think we'll have the opposite problem, getting back to the resort before they stop serving. Our first day shouldn't be a problem though, I'm planning to hang out there for the evening.
