Possibly this should be on the restaurant board, but the only reason that I went to the Kona Island Sushi Bar was because of the glowing review on the Podcast. I was in WDW for the first Star Wars weekend and while some have compared that weekend’s weather to Dagobah, it reminded me more of the dry season on Kamino. (nb – please feel free to ignore the last sentence, it just means that it was really, really wet.);)

I went for sushi twice that extended weekend and the Kona Island Sushi Bar has joined the Brown Derby and Chef de France as one of my favorite places to crawl into after a long, hard day on vacation. The first time, I ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll. It was indeed very nice ~ thanks for the suggestion, Kevin ~ and perfect for when I wasn’t feeling very adventurous; I'm not really very brave. On Sunday evening, I went for the chef’s selection/Combo plate which included the highly recommended Tuna Poke; and do you know that even the wasabi was better there than it is on any Chinese Buffet in Pittsburgh?:lmao:

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you. You seriously improved my vacation. :cloud9:

I went recently because I was in Orlando for work, but wasn't able to get to Disney (sad!). So I needed some Disney resort time to get my fix and didn't have an ADR to eat anywhere.

I ordered a regular california roll and some sticky wings from Kona. I was pleasantly surprised that the crab in the roll wasn't "krab" and was indeed real crabmeat. A nice treat for a plain california roll :) (Not that I don't love the other kind)

The service was fantastic. Because I was eating alone, I talked a good bit to the servers (links in really well with the voicemail from the email show re: solo dining!) and they were super nice and chatty.

So I concur with you, Kevin & John - it's a great place to grab a bite!!

We stopped there on our way to Narcoossee's for dinner for a quick roll and drink and it was outstanding!!! We could not get an ADR the rest of the week we were there so we made sure that we called first thing for July!!! Can't wait to go back and try several different rolls.:goodvibes

We too are huge fans now. The shrimp tempura roll was our favorite. We cancelled another ressie to go back twice last trip. :thumbsup2
