My Dad and I always wanted to try the Sushi at the Kona Island Sushi Bar at the Polynesian and tonight we finally did. I had the Shrimp Tempura Roll and he had the Kona Crab Cake Roll, which we both enjoyed and this is one location we will be going back to again in the future.

some day.......some day I may give it a try......thanks for the review

Glad to hear this. We will be trying this next month for the first time too. Now I can't wait, thanks for the post. :goodvibes

We ordered the Volcano Roll as an appetizer at Kona Cafe. It was fantastic. When we go back in May I plan on ordering it again.

Do they accept ADR's here?

Thanks!
No they don't. However incase there is a wait for seat at the bar it shouldn't be long since it's not long to make it and for someone to eat it. Although you can also order off the regular Kona Cafe menu from there, so those guests would take a bit longer to eat.

I think in March - I'm going to have to visit and satisfy my love of Sushi - yummo Thanks for the reviews.

Glad to know this place. Thanks for the review. Maybe we will be trying this on our next trip. Now I can't wait it to happen. Thanks again. :)

We ate here a few times last month too, and found it to be terrific. Volcano roll was our favorite, but we also had the crab cake roll and I very much enjoyed the Tuna Poke.

There was never any wait for a seat when we went (which was great without ADRs) and being able to order off the Kona menu was a plus too (love the Kona salad!)

We've also had sushi at Teppan Edo (Epcot), California Grill (Contemporary) and at Pucks (DTD). DH and I both agreed that while the selection isn't quite as extensive as Cal Grill (whose sushi is top notch!), Kona Sushi was right up there. We'd rank them...

1. California Grill
2. Kona Island Sushi (a very close second)
3. Wolfgang Puck Cafe
4. Teppan Edo

When I was at Kona in September, I ordered the california luau rolls from the bar for my appetizer and that worked out great and they were tasty! I had no idea I could sit at the sushi bar & order from Kona though... Now my DH might agree to go there with me if I can have my sushi & he can still have his steak!

Oh, and the crab cake roll, is it a crabcake IN rice? Or on it? Or just the crab cake?

Thanks for posting!:goodvibes

You're welcome and I believe the crab cake roll has rice on the outside, with the crab cake on inside of it.

So, you can eat at Kona and order from the sushi bar as well? Awesome.
