Kona & GF Cafe?

I am thinking of trying Kona or GF Cafe for dinner during our Jan. trip.

For those that have been - what was each like - food, atmosphere, service and ease of getting to/from MK?

Any particular menu items stand out?

Which would you recommend?

Also possibly thinking of Kona for an early morning breakfast - was wondering how good is Tonga Toast - worth the trip? We are staying at WL.

For dinner, both are excellent choices and 2 of my favorites for more of a regular but good restaurant dining experience. At GF Cafe, I had a shrimp scampi and steak dinner that was delish. I think that the GF Cafe is completely under rated - its in a great location, very charming, fairly priced and you can actually get a table there. You can make a nice evening of it - enjoy the music in the lobby and head out to the porch of Narcoosees for an outstanding (and under-rated) view of the fireworks with the music piped in.

At the Kona, I've had the filet which I love - I remember it coming with asparagus and good potatoes. I also like their potstickers.

Kona is worth the trip for breakfast, too. As is GFC (lobster eggs benedict = yum). You won't go wrong either way.

Thanks so much - I have to agree about GF Cafe; I never even noticed it last year.

Any other menu recommendations out there?

Which one is easier to get back to the MK from? I guess which way does the monorail go around or does it really not make a big difference?

Monorail will stop at Poly first the GF but its only one stop difference. So GF Cafe is one stop quicker than Kona. However, Kona has a really nice menu. The filet is like butter and the sticky wings appetizer is awesome too. Other winners on the menu: shrimp and scallops and the Teriyaki steak. Never ate at GF Cafe but heard good things on here. If you can, try both!
