I am really thinking about going to Kona in May for dinner with DH, DS 8, DD 5, DS 3 and picky eater Grandad. We will be on the DDP. I am not sure on what to expect and when would be a good time to try and get an ADR? Also it is a must for Mom to get a good drink to make the evening a sucess:)

Help!!!!

I think the earliest time available for dinner is around 5:00. You might want to nab an early time and be there before they get so busy. Then afterwards, you can go back to the park and see the night parade and fireworks. We've always found the food to be very good at Kona. I think everyone will be pleased with the choices. I love the coconut/almond chicken. Their steak was also very good. Before your meal, they serve a very tasty bread with sweetened butter-yummy.

Kona is super yummy! DH and I loved their steaks and like the PP said the bread they give you is delicious. If your family has seen Wishes from inside the park before, I'd suggest making an ADR for later at night (like 1.5 hours before Wishes) so that after you finish eating you can sit on the beach at Poly and see Wishes from a different vantage point (and not have to deal with crowded Main Street). They pipe the music in so you can still hear the whole story as well.

My entire family (kids and grandparents included) LOVES the Kona Cafe. They have a great selection, and all our meals have been delicious. :thumbsup2

Anyone have a recent kids menu? The one online is from 07

My son is really not the type to try something new. He was unhappy with the choices at Kona. The server offer to get him chicken strips and fries, which were not on the menu. My son was thrilled. If your kids do not see what they want just ask. Kona has always been our families favorite. You can't beat the desserts!!!

Thanks! I just added one more dinner and Kona is it..the girls always love chicken fingers but I worry that is going to be all they eat for the next 5 days!

Thank you this is GREAT to know my soon to be 3 year old really doesn't eat much at all and I have been wondering if he will starve during our next trip!

We ate at Kona Cafe last February with three kiddos in tow.....and in two weeks, we'll be eating there again with FIVE KIDS and one infant! It's definitely a more casual restaurant, but the food is excellent.....and the desserts are fab too. :) I loooooooooooved the crab cakes!

Another big thumbs up for Kona - and a second for the coconut/almond chicken. I rarely get chicken out (I cook so much of it at home!) but this is really good! Tambu Lounge is a reat place to enjoy a fruity island cocktail while waiting for your table!
