Just booked Kona for breakfast. Would love to hear your opinion on it?

I really like it there. I had the platter for my meal, (they have some cutesy name for it, but I can't think of what it is off the top of my head.) It's a nice relaxing breakfast before a busy day. I love the pancakes especially.

the platter is called the Big Kahuna...it's 2 eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, breakfast potatoes, french toast and a small stack of pancakes with macadamia nut butter and crushed pineapple topping it. YUMMY. We love this...big enough for 2 adults to split, or keep you until mid-afternoon at least. It's a lot of food for a not too-terrible price (considering you're at Disney, of course.) And the pressed-pot Kona coffee is outstanding (real Hawaiian coffee, not instant Nescafe). Here's a picture from a couple of years ago...didn't take a pic last time we were there (last year) but the potatoes were chopped more instead of the wedges...otherwise everything else was the same:

They also have macadamia nut pancakes you can order for your entree (these have the macadamia nuts in the batter) and these are huge (plate size) and also delish. If I recall correctly, these come with your choice of bacon or sausage side.

And of course, if you like Tonga Toast you can get that here. It's super thick french toast stuffed with whole banana, deep-fried and coated with cinnamon sugar. And if that's not sweet enough, they also serve strawberry compote to top this with. There are many fans who rave about how these are a lil' bit o'heaven...but we SERIOUSLY disliked this stuff (the banana cooks up to a hot-slimey consistency and the whole thing is way too sweet.) It's the kind of thing you either love or hate.

We are big fans of the Tonga Toast over here. I would say that if you are a big dessert fan, you will enjoy it. It's banana-strawberry-cinnamon sugar-deep fried goodness. Kona also has delicious Lilikoi Juice, which wdwinfo.com defines as a "Orange, passion fruit, and guava blend" YUM! I know you already have an ADR, but from what I understand, another perk is that it's pretty easy to get a last minute ADR or a walk-in table here, although I've never tried it myself.

We stayed at the Poly during our last trip to WDW and went to the Kona Cafe for breakfast as often as possible. The French press Kona coffee alone justifies going there! I like the Tonga Toast, but agree that it is very sweet and possibly not to everyone's taste. They also have (about to massacre the spelling) Lillikoi juice, which is a blended tropical juice, lovely and refreshing.

It's a must for our family each trip. The prices aren't that high for WDW so we always pay OOP and save DDP TS credit. The food is excellent and pressed Kona coffee is very good.:thumbsup2

Kona is our favorite breakfast place. We are trying to be more budget-minded for our trip this fall, and this is the only sit-down meal we are planning to splurge on. It's a great value for the money.

Tonga Toast? It should be declared a national treasure.

And, if you have the dining plan, the Big Kahuna has to be a best-buy with one of your sit-down meal credits.

You'll love it!

It's a must do for us every trip! In fact, Kona Cafe is where we eat for our last breakfast before heading home. We love the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes, the omlet, the Lilikoi Juice, and of course the Tonga Toast.

Yes to all of the above. Yummy breakfasts that are too good to be true.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to eat there now. Only 7 more days until we leave.

Love Kona! Have never had anything but the Tonga Toast, but am hooked on it and have to go everytime we go! DH said we might have to take a break on the next trip, and I said NO WAY! I NEED my TT!

It is our must-do departure day breakfast! Love the Tonga Toast and the juice. We went there on a whim a handful of years ago, and now a trip to WDW doesn't feel complete without breakfast at Kona.

2 Words;
TONGA TOAST

Seriously...the best EVER!!!!
I love it so much, on our MK day we are going to the Poly to eat at Captain Cooks just so I can get it!!!!:worship::worship::worship:

We love the breakfast here we have eaten here the last two years for breakfast. My husband loves the Tonga Toast. Two thick slices of bread almost French toast style with bananas and such in the middle and powder sugar on top with a strawberry sauce over that. I love the pineapple macadamia pancakes. I give it two thumb up for food.

Not only is the food declicious, but then you are right there to take the monorail or boat to the Magic Kingdom. The TTC is there also to take you to Epcot.

Just thinking about Kona Cafe is making me happy :goodvibes. We stay at the contemporary, but always make it to Kona twice each trip. My girlfriend likes the big kahuna, and I like the tonga toast. The coffee s also delicious. Going there gives us a chance to poke around the polyneisian, and as Someone else mentioned it's a convenient trip to the MK afterwards. Since we ride the monorail a lot from the contemporary, I like to take the resort water launch to the MK after breakfast :goodvibes

A must do! We just ate there 2 weeks ago, pics and review in my May thread, and the pressed pot coffee is reason alone to go there!
