How many people would think that they would get pinnapple with their eggs? On our last trip we ate breakfast here and I ordered the eggs with bacon. Whenour server brought my meal it had pinnapple with it. The reason this is a problem is I am highly allergic to pinnapple in all it forms. The menu said nothing about the fruit and neither did any of the menus I have looked at online. I guess the biggest reason this is still bugging me is the server seemed very put out that the original plate had to be taken back and everything had to be made again. They acted like I should have somehow know about this. I would love to go back there again and I will be sure to mention my allergy, but seriously this seemed to come right out of left feild. :confused3

Thats would be a surprise. However, I have noticed that at the POLY they have always had alot of fruit/flowers on the meals similar to what you might find in some Hawaiian restraunts.
Since you are allergic to it, that waiter should have been gracious about it.

I had a similar experience at KONA. THey have 2 lunch time dishes that are similar in name. We accidently ordered 2 of this horrible entree that looked like pond water with floating veges, then you had dipping stuff on the side. :rotfl2:
We were kind of stunned since we eat there alot, and the waitress immediately was like 'this isn't what you thought it was going to be" SHE offered to take it back without us even complaining, which we grateful she did. However, this other waiter who helped her bring the stuff out made some kind of comment about the mixup in a negative way.
Later she even told us she didn't know why they didn't take this one entree off the menu because everyone hated it.

I have never seen garnishes listed on any menu (whether it be fruit, parsley, kale, mint, etc.). I also have never seen garnishes on mixed drinks listed on a menu. A lot of tropical drinks come with pineapple, cherries, strawberries. I do think the waiter should have been nice about it, though.

It sounds like it was just an unfortunate set of circumstances. I don't think the restaurant's at fault for not listing the garnish, and you were not at fault for not forseeing that pineapple might be on the plate when you ordered.

However, the server *was* at fault for being rude about it, and should have taken care of it for you graciously, not made you feel bad about it.

I agree with this post word for word.
