Kona Cafe - tell me about it

Ok, we will be spending a long weekend at WDW in June. On the Sunday we will be there, we're going to do MK extra park hours until about 2 a.m.! We leave Monday to head to the beach. SOOOO, my question for you - we are going to hit Kona for the first time ever on Monday before we leave town. Should we do a late breakfast or would you choose an early lunch? We have the Dining plan, so I suppose cost is not an issue:thumbsup2

In 2009 we thought the food bland, our seating cramped and the service slow.. The wings you can get at Ohanas.. I had the famous tuna oscar that was oddly very dry and tasteless, my DH steak over cooked. The banana chocolate creme brulee was the best thing about the night.. Of course Im a big creme brulee fan..

I say try it tho, Kona has a lot of fans and you may become one of them..

My family loves Kona Cafe! We really like the potstickers, crab cakes, the shrimp and scallops meal, the bread, and the banana chocolate creme brulee. DH and DD had sushi in October and really enjoyed it. We have always had good service. What is lacking in atmosphere is made up for with delicious food.

We love, love, love their breakfast but dinner is very good also.

I get th Tuna oscar which is delicious but I substitute the fried green tomatoes for mashed since I am not a tomato fan. The best part is the banana chocolate creme brulee.

Based on your park plans, I would do Kona for lunch. Its a great place to just relax for an hour or two midday and since you're doing a full day in the park (w/o scheduled breaks I'm guessing) it might be night to take a lunch break there.

The atmosphere is very relaxing - views of palms in the window, you can hear the indoor water fountain in the lobby - but also we found the lunch entrees did not weigh us down like some food does.

Hands down...one of the best places to eat of the property...when I worked in Disney we use to go there once a week and now when we go there on our annual vacation, we go here every trip. I can say enough about this place...from the drinks, food, appetizers, and desserts, this place has everything covered.:thumbsup2 If you like a tropical mixed drink get the Lapu lapu. It was amazing!!! For dessert get the chocholate banana creme brule:banana: awesome!!! all the dinners are fantastic! Dont forget about the Lapu Lapu...you wont be dissapointed!

did I mention the Lapu Lapu?!

Hope this helps.
