Is there another TS that you would replace Kona Cafe with? We have never eaten here before and heard great things about it but I was wondering if there was another "Must Do" that we are missing.

It will be 4 people (me, DH, and DDs 7 & 9). Kids aren't picky, we aren't picky.

Here is what we have so far (not in any particular order):

Le Cellier (dinner)
Princess Storybook Breakfast
Nine Dragons (lunch)
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre (dinner)
'Ohana (breakfast & dinner)
1900 Park fare (breakfast)
Garden Grill (dinner)
Teppanyaki (dinner)
Coral Reef (dinner)

Kona Cafe (dinner) or replacement??

Is Kona a great TS or should we replace it with something we have missed?

Thanks so much DISers!! :goodvibes

We love Kona Cafe and I wouldn't replace it!! Maybe you could just do Ohana for breakfast and do Kona for dinner if you think it might be too much of the same type of food. Personally we don't like Ohana but Kona is a must do!

I wouldn't replace it either!!! We ate there in Sept. it was so good we cancelled another TS and went to Kona again! I just made ADR's today for our next trip and Kona is on the list!!! It is fantastic -- def. NOT to be missed!!

Glad to hear the rave reviews about Kona...we plan to go there on our next trip! Whats everyones must do menu items?!?!

I would suggest dumping the Kona restaurant and changing it to Boma or Whispering Canyon Cafe or Boatwright's or just about anything. We thought Kona was terrible, and would not recommend it to anyone.

We ate there in June and loved it...I'd keep it, if I were you.. We are going back in September and are planning to eat there again for sure..:goodvibes

Another Kona fan here. We are eating there on the 27th, on our first night in the world.

We LOVE the mahi mahi. The only thing we have tried so far. Can't pass it by.

I prefer Kona to WCC. Completly different atmosphere. Kona is very laid back, typical restaurant. BUt the food is pretty good. (oh, and the sticky wings and pot stickers are pretty good)

Have fun planning!

Kona is always a must do, but for the Tonga toast & coffee in the AM not dinner. I agree that the Whispering Canyon Cafe is not to be missed.

:goodvibes Whatever you choose, have a blast:goodvibes

I would eliminate some other restaurants on your list before I would think about replacing Kona Cafe. Your kids will love the dessert selection which they can gaze at before deciding...if they can.:wizard:

Thanks everyone for your input :goodvibes

There are some restaurants on the list I would like to eliminate, but due to the fact that my in-laws are going to be with us the first 6 days, there are things on there they want to do and of course I had to leave the ones the kids LOVED when we were there last time (Garden Grill--one of my favs, and Sci-Fi & Nine Dragons--kids & DHs fav)

Thanks again, and keep coming with the input. I love hearing everyone's experiences :goodvibes

We loved Kona. My DH had the steak teriyaki and it was divine. I like the potstickers a lot. Actually, everything we've had there is fabulous. Enjoy!

You hear so many rave reviews of Kona on the boards that this response surprises me. What didn't you like about your experience there?

Just trying to get a sense if it was the menu that didn't suit your tastes, or if there was something more wrong with the food or the service or ... ?

We will be dining twice at Kona this trip. We dined twice last trip. We enjoy it, althought the appetizer menu needs a little more. We enjoy the filet mignon medallions, you can cut those babies with a fork. Honestly the beef I ordered this last trip at Kona was sooooo much better than Le Cellier. I normally enjoy Le Cellier by the way.

We love Kona. We ate there twice last trip because it was so good. It is a must do for us. The only one on your list that we skip is Nine Dragons. We all get terrible headaches after eating there*msg? I don't know but it is off our list and we have GREAT chinese food at home so we are looking for something different on vacation.
On Kona the items we have had and LOVED
The Mahi Mahi(to die for!!)
The Terriyaki steak- dh loves this one
Chocolate volcano..need I say more.
And the kids love the Kona Kone!
Keep it you'll be glad you did!

Another Kona lover here. We do not care for the Whispering canyon cafe. We found their food ok, nothing great, just ok.

Kona is my very favorite TS restaurant. The Mahi-Mahi is absolutely the best dish I've ever had. That would be the last restaurant I'd drop.

Kona is great. We ate there and DH is insisting on eating there again when we go back in Jan 2008. He has 3 must eat ats - Kona, Ohana and Le Cellier.
I love the beef medallions and sticky wings - Kiddie Kone for dessert. I know DS had the MAhi and still raves about it. Can't remember what DH had.
