Kona Cafe or Ohanas for dinner??

Totally different. OHana is an all you can eat, family style, loud and fun restaurant. We haven't been there since they changed the menu. Since DW doesn't eat much and DS is very picky, we haven't been there in over a year.

Kona Cafe is a classic table service place, with excellent food. We have an ADR there for the 30th!

The food and atmosphere at Ohana have never interested me, but I"ve had many outstanding casual dinners at Kona. It's probably my favorite casual dinner place at WDW.

I prefer Kona. Service at 'Ohana can be hit or miss, and I didn't love the food. The meat was very dry, and we filled up on salad and bread, which was not worth the $$. Kona has very good quality, we loved everything, especially the desserts!

Kids are certainly welcomed at Kona, but at 'Ohana they're given free reign. Which may be another reason I didn't love 'Ohana! Lol.

I've never had dinner at O'hana, but the meal we had at Kona in April was excellent. My grammy talks about it every time we see her, a sure sign of a great meal. Wicked good food, and some of the best service we've had in any restaraunt.

I semi agree with ducklite - there are times when we enjoy 'Ohana, but Kona's our favorite casual dinner restaurant at Disney. We've never had a bad meal there.

It's so good to hear all the positive responses about Kona Cafe because that's where we have one of our dinner reservations. I read about the Ohana and didn't think it appealed to us with the whole "family-style dining".

I think it depends on the type of experience you're looking for. Kona Cafe has great food and is a normal table service experience, where Ohana is okay food and a fun "Disney" experience. I would base my decision on who your dining companions are and what would appeal to everyone. :sunny:

I really like the O'Hana dining room. It is very pretty and interesting. Many seats near the windows have great views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Castle. I was able to watch part of the electric water parade from my table.

Question about Kona--are lunch and dinner different there? We had lunch there this week and while it was good, I had expected much better after reading all the raves about it here on the DIS. I thought maybe dinner is the great dining experience. Sorry to hijack the thread a little. Thanks!

The menus are different, but we've been for both meals many times and think both lunch and dinner are excellent. It's not fine dining, but it's great for a casual dining meal. Maybe you had an off day?
