Kona Cafe - My Truth About Series

I noticed you have not reviewed drinks. What about mixed drinks and/or wine with the meal? Often that is an added plus if they have a good selection.

And a review on a mixed drink or a glass/carafe/bottle of wine is always a welcome plus in any review.

Pretty sure it wouldn't be legal for him to review those for at least two to three years. ;)

What about adding "dinner" to your title?

Only because Kona is such a great breakfast place - it probably deserves its own separate review for that meal (have you been there for that - that's my favorite breakfast in WDW).

Good job on the review though, can't disagree on the noise factor, we just tune it out and we're there for breakfast, so the noise doesn't bother me much at breakfast. I think the 'Ohana crowd/line is the biggest contributor at breakfast time.

As to the posters commenting on the "truth" aspect of it - in the words of Steven Colbert:

"Truthiness is 'What I say is right, and [nothing] anyone else says could possibly be true.' It's not only that I feel it to be true, but that I feel it to be true."

Truthiness: The quality of stating concepts one wishes or believes to be true, rather than the facts.

I don't think we have an issue here with truth or truthiness! Just one person's opinion, like any review of anything.

A quick look at my profile will reveal that I am just a freshmen is high school. So, sorry, I won't be reviewing any alcoholic beverages.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Kona Cafe. I was thinking of dinning here for lunch or dinner and appreciate your point of you and others. Thank you for the details.

Thanks for your review. My family was really considering this for our first night dinner and think I am going to book it for sure now!!!

our family loves kona. We have had lunch and dinner there. agree about noise and service. desserts here are amazing! if you go, try to time so you finish dinner right before the fireworks start then head down to the beach to watch them. We accidently did this our first time and try to do it again when it works for us.

That's a great tip! I remember when we went to the Luau some years back, the fireworks went off as we made our way down the beach back to the GF. I always promised myself I'd do the beach view again, and your post reminded me - thank you.

I have only eaten there for breakfast, so I can't comment on the dinner selections, but I did find the atmosphere to have kind of a Denny's quality. Are there laminated booths or something? I can't remember why I felt that way, but there was something about Kona that was reminiscent of cheap breakfast places. Nothing against cheap breakfast places (love them!) - just not what I was expecting from Kona.

Is Kona 1 TS credit or 2? I think we may try it next trip. We did Ohana last time- maybe Kona this time....

I find the atmosphere of Kona to be very different during the day and at night. As you mentioned, it does somewhat resemble a Disney take on a breakfast place during daylight hours. But come night, the dark really brings out the colors of the walls and decorations. It is much nicer at night.

Kona is 1 TS credit.

Kona Cafe was awesome on my latest trip! The pineapple bread and butter were perfect as usual. The pineapple teriyaki strip steak was cooked perfectly and delicious as always. And the Kiluea Torte was chocolately goodness! As always, highly recommended.

Long time Kona fan here. Ate there for lunch last month - the breeze was pretty chilly on our table next to the rail. I had trouble finding anything on the menu of interest - ended up with the steak with pineapple salsa - Salsa was good - steak was thin with inedible gristle in it. The sides were macaroni salad and sticky rice - I should have thought to ask to sub veggies for one or both sides - too much too bland starch. No bread was offered. It was our most expensive lunch of the trip and I got up from the table wanting to go somewhere and eat.

It took all my willpower to restrain myself from filling up on the bread and being too full for the meal - delicious!

Absolutely! The Kona Cafe bread is delicious!

However, I'm thinking that we might skip Kona on our next trip. We did both Kona and Ohana last trip and liked Ohana a bit more. And we've done Kona 4 times and Ohana only twice.

Does anyone have any really positive recent reviews of Kona? I have one more open dining spot on my upcoming trip and I'm thinking of filling it with Kona, despite eliminating it earlier.

Thanks so much guys!
