Hi! We are dining at Kona our first night in WDW. I've seen the menu and heard good things about it. I'd love to hear your personal expereinces and/or hear about your favorite dish there. Thanks!

I had the filet last time, and it was absolutely PERFECT!! However, I keep hearing great things about the terriyaki steak and the macadamia nut mahi-mahi, so I'm torn! :confused3

You'll enjoy Kona, no matter what you try! ;)

Breakfast: Tonga Toast with sausage

Dinner: Toss up between the Shrimp & Scallops or the Mahi. Either way, I'd definitely go for the crab cake appetizer.

Love the sticky wings - flavourful but not spicy.

It's a toss up between the Mahi Mahi (very tender fish - and the mushroom rice, mmmm) and the filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus - very tender cut of beef, and I've always had good luck getting it cooked as I ordered (medium rare).

Desserts are all good but the only one I find outstanding is the Kiddie Cone - great ice cream in a waffle cone surrounded by cotton candy, candies with a chocolate mickey head. Yes, it's "just" ice cream, but it's a fun dessert.

Our faves are:

Appetizers - Crabcakes, KONA chowder
Entrees - Teriyaki Steak & Mahi-Mahi
Dessert - Choc Macadamia Nut Tart (my fave dessert anywhere):cloud9:

Appetizers: Kona Chowder and the crab cakes (note the crab cakes are a small portion of 3)

Entree: my dh likes the mahi mahi, I like the terriyaki steak, Havent tried the scallops and shrimp but there looks like a lot of breading on it. Dont, Repeat, Dont get the turkey medallions, gross and unappitizing. Also the coconut chicken is pretty good with the kona salad.

Dessert - My favorite is the creme brule.

They only thing I would not put on my favorite list is the Turkey Medallions. Even the servers kind of make a funny face when asked how it is.

My husband could eat the Kona chowder day and night. I love the sticky wings. The old bread was my favorite but the sweet bread is ok too. The steak has always been great and the cocconut chicken is wonderful.

Just can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu, its all good. :goodvibes

We just went on Friday and I had the Pan Asian Noodles - Asian noodles with sliced chicken, seasonal vegetables, and a housemade vegetarian stir-fry sauce. It was really yummy. My DH had the Char Crusted Filet Mignon and loved it. We all had the kiddie cone for dessert. mmmm

was at Kona for dinner two weeks ago - now become a tie for our favorite restaurant (with LeCellier).....

My DH LOVED the sticky wings for appetizer - I tasted them - awesome.
My DS had the chowder - loved that too

Most of the table had the teriyaki steak....it was incredible.
One friend had the mahi mahi - he also liked it.

I still love the kiddie cone for dessert...we all shared two of them.

Same here! We ate there on the 7th (?), the night after we ate at Le Cellier. YUM.
Loved the crabcakes, duck potstickers, steaks & desserts. Everything was great & we'll definitely return, though DBF wants to eat at LC TWICE next trip!

Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi... it is soooooooo delicious!!! The Kona Chowder is terrific too.

The filet is delicious. Even my BIL approved and he hates EVERYTHING! It was cooked perfectly.

I have tasted the mahi mahi -- my sis got that. Very good.

Appies are all good. DH loves the Maytag blue cheese salad. I love the chicken noodle soup (yes ... I wanted some "home-like" food). I've also had the sticky wings and potsticker dumplings.

Entrees I spoke of already.

All desserts are to die for -- but death by chocolate is the volcano cake (whose real name I can't remember!). YUM!

Both my husband and I LOVE the teriyaki steak entree. We get it every single year :) So delicious.

They took this off the menu last year, but upon special request, they'll still make them. They're called the Kona Creme Puffs.

they're absolutely delicious.
[creme puffs filled with chocolate type mousse, and topped with chocolate butterfly wings, and whipped cream]

Also, the Kona Burger is always a delight.

We had Dinner at Kona Cafe in late June. By the way, our service was excellent!! :thumbsup2

Appetizers:
Crab Cakes :thumbsup2
Seafood Chowder "ehh"
Duck Pot stickers :thumbsup2

Entrees:
Filet Mignon :thumbsup2
Coconut Almond Chicken "ehh"
Shrimp & Scallops "ok"

You know it's funny how different people can perceive the same dish. I loved the Turkey Medallions... but then I try to avoid red meat and love turkey as a substitute so... :confused3

Absolutely love the terriyaki steak!! If my memory serves me correct (it's been 2 years since the last Disney trip  ), I think the steak came with some really good mashed potatoes. :thumbsup2 DBF and I have an ADR for Kona for our trip 11/30-12/7/07 and I can't wait! I've already decided on getting the terriyaki steak again!
