Hi folks, just joined today and although our next vacation isn't until October next year, I've already started planning our ADR list, mostly for evening meals..However I'd like to try Kona at the poly for breakfast ( we are staying at WL ) Not sure what morning I'd like to try it until I see the early park hours..Could we just pop over without booking an ADR.?..We would be paying out of pocket ( we have got free DDP ) Or would you suggest we book in advance.?..Cheers..

Unless you get there early, I suggest an ADR. It's a very popular sit down breakfast due to their famous breakfast dishes like "Tonga Toast." And a pressed pot of coffee. Mmmmm.

Best answer - it's hit or miss.

We walked-in for breakfast the week of July 4th.

But consider this - you'll likely have better luck when the weather is nice, since people are more likely to be at the pool or in the Parks.

If you would like to "wing" breakfast at Kona then I would go pretty early(at or near the opening time 7am-ish)- I think you should be fine, I have been without an ADR before. Just have a back up plan.

We ate there in July with an 8:15 adr. Didn't make it until after 9 because of the transportation fiasco going on at Disney but there were only 15-20 people eating breakfast at 9.

Your back-up plan for no ADR at Kona, by the way, is the CS tonga toast at Captain Cook's.

Kona is one of my favorite places for breakfast! I would also suggest making an adr just to be safe! It is more popular for breakfast. I'll be having breakfast there next week, so excited!!!

We were there at the end of September and got turned away at breakfast around 9:15.

We make adrs but wing it simulataniousky by booking them at the last minute, usually day of or say before. If you want flexibility on when you go just be open to when you eat and this strategy has always worked for us.

Does anyone have a review of Kona? Friend said she had heard that things had changed there and it wasn't as good as it use to be.

We love Kona for breakfast and are actually going twice during our Feb/March trip-once for the red velvet pancakes that are only available in Feb and once for the Tonga Toast. We were there this past February and it was as delicious as usual.

In september we had a 7:30am ADR and they were telling walk ups that they were taking parties with reservations only.

We did walk up for lunch 2 days before without a problem.

I must unfortunately agree with this. Tonga Toast had gone downhill, and press-pot coffee was very weak last time I was there.

We went last February (from WL on way to Epcot... Nice to ride a boat then monorail!) I always just get the fruit plate (comes with banana bread). This is always a lovely presentation and we share around the table (or I take 1/2 back to room), as it is more than I can eat alone! We were happy with our press pot then. We have gone over the last four years and always had consistent meals and service. We do go right when it opens (with an ADR). Just wanted to point out this would not be a good value for a DDP, but a great option for OOP!

I was there in late August of this year, and it was the same as usual. The Tonga Toast was amazing as always, and the coffee was strong and hot (regular coffee, not the French Press). We had a bit of an issue with our service, but that was due to their dishwasher breaking down. Turn over time suffered a bit due to that, but they handled it very well.

You don't need to book way in advance, but I would book the day before. I tried two mornings to get seated this past October and they were full. For our last day, I simply made an ADR the night before to ensure we could eat there.
