I have ADRs at Kona Cafe for my July 06 trip. Just wondering which is better, Tonga Toast or Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes? I've heard everyone rave about the Tonga Toast but I'm also a bit curious about those pancakes. Anyone had the chance to compare the two? I'm really stuck on which one to try. :confused3

Are you going solo? If not, maybe you could get the Tonga Toast and have someone else in your party get the pancakes then split the orders between both of you. I've had the Tonga Toast and one order is MORE than enough for 2! My DH and usually share the Tonga Toast and the fruit platter. Yummy....

Yes, we tried both on our trip. For one, I HATE Tonga Toast. Nasty, greasy, fatty pile on the plate. Ick. Just looking at pictures makes my stomach turn now. My DSis just returned from the World and I didn't warn her about it - she ordered it and got down one swallow before having the waitress take it away. It's not for everyone - there are many loyal Tonga Toast lovers but still many people that find it icky. You will find lots of threads on here with both sides. Know it's very heavy, very greasy, and very sweet. DH actually ordered it when we went, he has a huge sweet tooth and ate about half before feeling blech. I took a bite and that was enough for me. Different strokes for different folks!

I ordered the pancakes which were very yummy! They aren't anything overly original but they are good. I was happy with my choice in those =)

If you want to try both, I'd order them both and split between a couple of people. It's a lot of food! ;)

Thanks Aimeedyan! I am not big on things that are too sugary or greasy so tonga toast definitely doesn't sound like the thing for me. I am definitely going for the pancakes. It sounds like my best bet. Thanks again! :thumbsup2

Oh go for the macadamia pineapple panckae, they are my favourite YUMMY!!! DH prefers Tonga toast but i think it is a little too greasy. Pancakes all the way for me.

Wow, that's a pretty nasty but very accurate discription. I love having breakfast at Kona. A friend, who eats anything overly sweet, had a hard time making it through the toast. Looking at it was enough for me.
