So we went to Kona cafe about 8 months ago. My wife has a salt intolerance and we explained this to our waiter and he seemed disinterested and said I can bring you some rice with some tuna on it. We were a little taken aback but that was all he offered and said they could make so that’s what she had and needless to say it was very underwhelming.
On our trip last week we booked Kona again because we wanted to have a meal and catch a boat over to MK for fireworks. Plus we always give a restaurant 2 chances as everyone is entitled to an off day. Well we sat and our server, Anosha, came over. We explained my wife’s salt intolerance. Well she sat at the booth next to my wife and went over everything on the menu and if it could be made fresh without salt. My wife decided on the salmon and vegetables whatever they could do. Our server also asked if we wanted to see the chef and we said no as we were very comfortable with her.
Well shortly after a beautiful piece of perfectly cooked salmon with crispy skin came out over a bed of so many vegetables all cooked beautifully with no salt. It was one of the best meals of the trip. So good in fact we went back a few days later and she had the same thing again cooked beautifully. Unfortunately Anosha wasn’t working but a gentleman named Sam was there remembered us and that my wife was the one with no salt and and he checked on us throughout the meal.
Now Kona is on the top of our list. So glad we gave it a second chance. It shows a different person can lead to a totally different experience. Disney is always excellent at accommodating my wife’s special diet.
Cast compliments and email to Disney team was sent advising of such excellent service
