We would like to try this Fri. Oct. 26, about 9 AM. Do I HAVE to call and make ADRs for breakfast...I have already called TWICE to book dinner ADRs, and frankly it isn't a quick ordeal, and this last week before our trip, I simply don't have any extra time (see what I am doing while I eat my lunch during my big 30 min. lunch!....actually students will be here soon!!!)

I will call if you think we could get turned away...I guess the question is, has anyone ever been turned away at breakfast as a walk in?

THANKS!

We switched reservations last minute to Kona Cafe for breakfast for our last day with no problems back in May. Once we arrived it was practically empty. However, I would either make the reservation or get there very early.

By your signature, it looks as if you'll be in WDW for the week. IMO, it wouldn't be too difficult to call sometime during that week, when you can call directly from your room (ya' gotta' be there sometime  ). Just press the dining button on your phone, and this way you can guarantee a table. :thumbsup2

The last time I had breakfast at Kona it was pretty empty, but that was around 7:30-8am... as we were starting to eat breakfast and it got closer to 8:30-9am it started to fill-up and people were lined up to get in (some of the kids were still in there PJs). I assume it gets a little busy as the Poly guests start waking up and make their way down.

That was actually a last minute ADR that we made to go there one morning. We call the night before and had no problems getting a table. I'd say better to be safe than sorry.

We stayed at the Poly a couple of weeks ago and I just went to concierge and asked about Kona's availiablity for the next day. They had an opening at 8:20 the next day - perfect time for us. I would make a ressies if you are sure you want to eat there and have a particular time. If you can be flexible and any day would work I'd wait and see if they can squeeze you in. As others have said just use the dining button on your phone or if you're staying at the Poly you can go to concierge on your way thru GCH.

Regardless of season, with or without ADRs, we've always been seated immediately for breakfast at Kona. Why this place is dead for breakfast so often is one of life's mysteries...but we love it!

I have been known to call for ADR the morning I want to eat breakfast at a particular restaurant. Not Character Breakfast, just TS. Boatrights, Kona come to mind. It is so helpful to know your name is on a list. I have been very lucky with this at slower times of the year, which includes the last week in Oct. Have fun, you will love the breakfast at Kona!

We have only been once and that was a couple of years ago. It was pouring rain outside and I guess nobody went to the parks from the Polynesian because Kona was mobbed. Even though we had an ADR, we waited almost an hour for a table. Sounds like this isn't typical, but I'd rather play it safe, than sorry - particularly if you're going at a busy time.
