I've alread made our ADRs for our Sept 22nd-30th trip. However I was thinking about adding Kona's one morning for breakfast. If we arrive fairly early, would an ADR be necessary?

Also, I can't decide if I'd rather have the macadamia nut pancakes or the famous Tonga toast. I've never eaten here. Which is better? We are on the dining plan, but would not be using it here.

If by fairly early you mean at opening or shortly after you should be ok. If you go much later you probably will need an adr. You can always make one from your resort and then drive over. It takes about 15 minutes for it to show up in the system.

I would make an ADR for any restaurant where I knew ahead of time I wanted to eat. Since you'll be there during free dining, that makes an ADR even more important. You can always cancel if the ADR doesn't fit your plans once you get there. If you don't know which day you want to have breakfast at Kona, you can call once you are at WDW to see if any ADRs are available. I wouldn't make a special trip to the Poly without an ADR.

I had breakfast at Kona with a large group (we had around 40 people) in December, and we had several people who ordered tonga toast and several others who ordered the macademia nut pancakes. Most of the people who ordered the Tonga toast liked it, but they all said it was very rich, and a few said that they couldn't eat more than a couple of bites because it was just too rich. It would be a good choice if you like really rich foods. Everyone in our group who had the macademia nut pancakes said they were delicious. The macademia nut pancakes were a bigger hit with our group.

We had ADRs for 8 a.m. on our last trip. We got there and there was maybe 3 other tables being occupied.

We always eat there early. between 7:30-8:00 and it is never full.
