Kohl's: what tricks do you have up your sleeve next?

I'm just sick of the coupon stores, period. Is there any store you can just shop at without having to do "research?" I don't want to feel like I'm getting gypped if I don't check my e-mail, watch the ads in the paper, or open a credit card. Shopping shouldn't be that hard.

Not the same at all, if you're referring to Shaw's Supermarkets/Star Markets (conceding that Shaws Grocery Store could be entirely unrelated. I know of no supermarket chain that raises or obfuscates its regular prices simply to make it appear that the sale prices are a good deal.

Yes I mean Shaw's/Star. They don't raise the prices, but you don't get the 'sale' price without the card, and then they act like they are doing you a favor by putting things on sale when they are overpriced to begin with.

I also don't see the Kohls in my area raising the prices prior to sales. The 'regular' price is the manufacturers suggested retail. That doesn't mean it was every sold anywhere for that price. It's not different than what JC Penney does or what Macy's does. You just have to know that you only buy whats on sale at Kohls, or else wait a week or two until it is on sale and there is a coupon to use for it. My kids know not to choose an item at Kohls unless it is at least '25% off" and then I still get to decide if the price is reasonable or not.

I usually do pretty well at Kohl's. I recently purchased the Babycakes cake pop maker, a Cuisinart mini prep food processor, a banquet length Fall tablecloth, a Fall candle, and 2 sets of kitchen towels for $73.00 plus I got Kohl's cash. In the beginning of the summer I got a Banzai Water Blaster inflatable slide and pool for $140.00 after sales, coupons, and Kohl's cash. The cheapest I found it elsewhere was $290.00 on Amazon.

I've just started doing the Kohl's thing and I agree that the "sale price" is what the actual price probably should be. But if it's something I want/need and am okay with the sale price, I don't have a problem with it. I was really happy to find that the SO basic jeans are actually cut generously enough in the seat and thigh for my daughter who is not a skinny stick but isn't a plus, either! Most girls jeans are cut way narrow in the thigh these days.

I guess I don't get the "slutty" comments about Kohl's 7-16 girls clothes- we were there Saturday shopping and there were jeans, t-shirts, Amy Byer and Bonnie Jean type dresses and dressy sets...I didn't see anything wrong??? Now we are just beginning to venture into junior sizes and wow that's a big change with a lot of inappropriate stuff for a 12yo but I'm not seeing that in Kohl's 7-16.

Some of my favorite clothes are Sonoma Life + Style...but I bought them all at thrift stores! Retail shopping is a last resort when I can't find what I need at the thrift.

I see they've introduced Jo Lo and Mark Anthony's collections ~ whatever ~ just seems lil odd now that they're seperated! :rotfl2:

I saw this too.
Kohl's tends to pick up new designers for awhile, then you won't see them anymore.
Lauren Conrad has been with them for 2 years now and my dd said, her line of clothes run really small.

I like the Elle line-a size 12 is a size 12.

Cathy Daniels-this cracks me up, because my cousins name is Cathy Daniels-I swear she never designs nothing new-it looks the same every season-"just plain ugly."

......and when you check out they have the nerve to say, "You saved $84.00 dollars today."

Another place that I never buy from unless I have a coupon or half off sale is Hobby Lobby. They do the same thing.

I work at JCPenney and we do this too. It's part of my job so I do it and I know a lot of people buy into it but it still amazes me that people think that the sale price is a good deal when it really should be the original price.

No complaints here, like many stores you just need a watchful eye :goodvibes. Live near mall, so shop at ours frequently - often we get lucky! :thumbsup2

Priced a particular pair of New Balance shoes I wanted at several stores and Khol's had the best price ~ @$66. w/30% sale = $46. HELLO! They're so comfy and my feet are happy campers. ;)
DH got a nice pr of $65 close out sandles he really likes $15.! Wed. gives us another 15% senior discount and we also like $10. Kohl's Cash for evey $50 spent. Works for us! :goodvibes

Just shopped Kohl's yesterday...DS16 needed a new shirt and tie for homecoming this weekend. His eyes went right to a purple and black striped shirt with a very swanky purple and black tie- Marc Anthony brand. The kid has expensive taste...this line is not cheap! The tie was 24.99 on sale, and the shirt was 39.99. I'm glad I had a 30% coupon, because it made it an easier pill to swallow. He will probably outgrow the shirt in 6 months! :rolleyes1

As far as prices go, though...I always look at the bottom line. If, after sales and coupons, I'm willing to spend that amount on an item, then it is a good deal. I bought a CHI flat iron yesterday, and after my coupon, it came to $77. That's a good price for a CHI.

Kohl's has great jeans and shoes and underthings so I like them. I don't see that they are any more expensive than other stores that sell the same items.

Agreed. Their Levi's jeans are the same price everywhere and Mary;s & JC Penney won't let you use a coupon with them. I like them a lot for sweaters, jeans & shoes. Bedding & towels are about the same as BB & B. I just go where I can find a better sale with the colors I like.

I won't even walk into Kohls without a 30% off coupon. Most of the time I am sent 15 or 20. I figure whatever I need will wait until the right coupon comes along...

Got a $10 off any purchase over $10 coupon in August. Found an adorable Candies top on sale for $15 (regular price $36). With my coupon, I paid $5. I kinda think that was quite a bargain!

Went there two weeks ago and got a cute pair of sandals for $6.99. They told me I saved $28! I kind of thought that was a great deal as I am still wearing the sandals and will wear them next summer, too!

However, it's extremely rare that I pay full price for any of my clothing!

always order online w/the 30% off coupon even if you got a 15%. Just ask here what it is. :)

We have been very happy w/their junior's clothes. They are not all tight fitting like many places. I just ordered DD 7 shirts for $89 after 30% off and $10 KC and earned another $10. We've been happy w/the quality.

I really like the Vanderbuilt jeans. Same price as most places but I use the coupon.
