Hi, looking at a possible very quick trip to UO, and considering a couple nights at either Terra Luna or Stella Nova.
What are the main differences between these 2? Is one (or are both) walkable to Epic? or since so close, are buses very frequent and quick?
Do the rooms have coffee makers? and if so, are they Keurig style that take pods? if not, I'll likely bring my own. I enjoy my morning coffee, bring my own fixings and travel Keurig on most trips.
The prices of the 2 are comparable, so just wondering about any main plusses/minuses on each, recommendations, etc.
Thanks!

I've not been to either, but like you was trying to decide between them. It appears Stella Nova is "more" walkable to Epic and Terra Luna has the better kids pool ... but again, I'm just sharing my research, not my experience. I was happy to pay a tiny bit more for Stella Nova for the option of walking if it was not too hot in the mornings.

Is Terra Luna walkable to any of the businesses on Universal Blvd? I see a Walgreens, 7-11, and Chick-fil-A that appear to be near-ish, but I can't tell whether there is reasonable pedestrian access to that area.

Jumping on the walkability aspect... Is Terra Luna walkable to the Orange County Convention Center? I thought I heard that it was. I have a convention coming up next year and it seems a lot more fun than the host hotel.

I wanted to drop in and share my experiences.

I just got back from a two night stay at Terra Luna. It was my friend and I so two adults, no kids. We were originally booked at Stella Nova due to the walking path, but switched to TL when the price dropped and TL was ~$40 per night cheaper. We were doing two full days at Epic, flying in early on Tuesday morning and checking out early this morning (Thursday), so proximity to Epic and quick bus service was our focus. Our Universal "home" is usually Cabana Bay so that is my point of comparison on most things.

We arrived at the hotel around 10 a.m. and got checked in easily (the lobby was pretty much a ghost town). Our room wasn't ready. Honestly, I didn't expect it to be, but we've been lucky in the past with super early check-ins at CB so I was hoping. No problem - we just dropped our bags at luggage services (sidenote: this TM was remarkably grumpy) and headed to the park.

Now for my biggest complaint about our stay - the bus service was significantly slower than we expected, given the proximity of the hotel to the park. When we checked in, we were told that buses come every 15 minutes and they were pretty close most of the time. However, it's important to know that there appears to be only one bus that is traveling between the hotel and park, even at park close. We're used to the bus service at CB, where one usually shows up within minutes (or seconds at park open/close) and that just isn't the case at TL. Also, the bus spot at Epic (and that of Stella Nova) are at the very end of the row, with no place to sit in the shade during the day. This made the mid-day breaks kind of rough.

The room had some good points and some bad points. There were a bunch of different lighting combinations and there are ton of outlets. There is good closet space and it appears that you could store luggage under the couch/dresser area. However, the drawers are super shallow and don't hold much. It was fine for us since we were only staying two nights, but for a longer stay or if you have more people, this could become an issue. There also is no storage in the night stand. Our bathroom was a shower only (personally, I'm not a fan of this), but it had a unique (and cool) design where the controls are on the opposite wall from the shower head. I would have preferred if the curtain that covers the glass wall between the beds and sink area would have extend to create a separate "changing area," but it doesn't.

We didn't go swimming, but we did check out the pool area, which looked nice, but it is completely open and there is NO natural shade or vegetation.

The coolest "I'm impressed that someone though of that" touch, for me, was that there was a bottle filler across from the ice machines, all of which were located right near the elevators. It was super easy to fill up my water bottle on our way to/from our room.

My second biggest complaint about TL was the food service. On Wednesday morning, when I went downstairs, there was a line about 10 people deep, waiting to order hot food. I don't understand why they don't have it set up for mobile order. There is a separate pick-up window (you currently get a buzzer when you order) and it is the perfect set-up for mobile ordering. Also, when we got back to the hotel around park close on Wednesday (Epic closed at 10 p.m.), I was stunned to see that the hot food area was already closed. The Bayliner Diner is always open at park close and seems to do a booming business as people come back to the hotel. I can't understand this decision. The Market side (pre-packaged foods/ice cream) was picked over with just a few odd sandwiches left. I noticed several people who appeared to have ordered Door Dash (or similar) in food area so I don't think that I was the only one hungry and searching for food at that point.

Check-out was super simple - just sent a text and we were on our way.

So long story short - would I stay there again? Honestly, I'm not sure. We got a super price ($185 with tax for two nights) and it was a reasonable, clean hotel. But if the bus service doesnt' get significantly quicker, I would prefer to stay at Cabana Bay or even Dockside. There's nothing special about this hotel that makes me say "I've got to go back there" and it has enough issues (the food situation) to make me think twice. Right now, I have a reservation for a week long stay at Stella Nova in January and I'm leaning heavily towards switching back to CB.

If anyone has any questions that I might be able to answer, please let me know. I'll help if I can.
