Know where my FAVORITE place in the world is, Mommy? I'm OUTTA HERE!!! Dude OUT!

If you post, they will come.

Thanks, Shoeless Jordan. :) :thumbsup2

More tomorrow. I was trying to get the stuff I was working on done, but hit a few snafus. I need to finish, take pics, and write more disney ramlings after SLEEP!! No pics of that, though. :p

'Night!

Welcome Irene! :welcome:

Cargo shorts work if they have good sized pockets. The big thing is the pockets. I hauled around a diaper bag for 3.5 years before both kids were reliably potty trained (they're 12 months and 2 days apart), and I HATED it! Half the time, I don't even carry a purse, so I'm used to not carrying a lot with me...travel advil, lip balm, a few individual wipes, and my wallet, and I'm set, lol.

I recommend the Disney for families and the disney tips boards for help with anything you need to know. When we went the kids we excited and a bit overwhelmed. We couldn't stay in the parks too late, and we missed most of the fireworks, as the kids fell asleep at the few shows we tried to go to. :)

Anyway, welcome to my gregarious post! :flower3:

party:

Thanks for the welcome! The issue with cargo shorts is simply that we are going in January, lol. I love using them for summer excursions, and now that both ds and dd are potty trained, I don't even need a diaper! (I'd usually throw that in the pocket of my Kozy (Asian-inspired baby carrier)). So, I'll be bringing the cargo shorts, but can't depend on the weather letting me wear them. I do have huge pockets in my fleece jacket, however, that sort of make up for that - but if I end up wearing my winter coat, it doesn't have very big pockets.

I've started hanging out at the family forum a bit, tho haven't tried the tips one yet.

I am starting to worry that I have planned too much activity and that the kids will rebel, lol. We may end up with one full day at the resort - I just hope the weather cooperates.

I'm Not a good one to talk to about daily planning. I usually just decide which park we'll go to on a certain day and where we're eating for dinner. No touring plans or anything. WE aren't even crazy about rope-drop, and my whole family are morning people (Except for me!) The Big thing for us was not planning on anything being in stone. We paid attention to the kids, and tried to do what they needed, and it ended up goign very well...except for dinner, when we ignored their needs in favor of "Having" to goto dinner.

I haven't been to FL in January for 26 years, so I forget what the weather was like, but I have pics in shorts and a tee. Your fleece jacket should work well. :)

I'm sure you'll be fine. :) Just remember to have fun!! :)

I had all sorts of cool things to talk about, and I can't remember any of them. :headache:

:offtopic:

I scheduled my gallbladder surgery for next WEdnesday. My mother, who I was stressed about coming to my house, decided that she doesn't think I'll need her help with the kids after my surgery, adn has announced she's not coming.

I don't know WHY I am ticked. :confused3 :confused3 I wasn't very happy about her coming, since she tends to pick at me, and say little underhanded things....and she's a cleaning nazi. BUT, I was looking forward to the help for a few days after surgery. I'm just kind of hurt that the day I schedule the surgery, she goes and tells me she won't come help me out. :headache: :sad1:

HHBG says I should have expected this, but for some reason I always think my mother's going to change, you know??

OK, of of the pity party....

Probably won't be here much in the next week....I can't lift heavy things or drive for a while after surgery, so I need to get everything I possibly can done BEFORE Wednesday...:laundy: ...but hey, I am supposed to take it easy for a few days after, so I'll probably live on the DIS on my laptop.

Well, must go cook dinner....:headache:

Lol - I've been looking at different plans (I've got UG for Kids), but doubt I could ever get the kids to follow an actual plan. I have pretty much reviewed the attractions enough to know whether or not we would be interested in them (or if the kids (or I!) are likely to be scared by it), and I have dinner ADR's, along with a few contingency plans. I have noticed that most of the kid plans for the Magic Kingdom seem to be based on the idea that as soon as you get there in the morning, head straight for Dumbo and get it out of the way - and after that, it doesn't seem to matter that much.

I was talking to dh at lunch today about the idea that maybe at some point he and ds would hang out at the resort pool while dd and I go to a park, tho I'm not sure which one he would be most willing to skip! But, the main thing that worries me is that I don't have any completely down days scheduled - tho my MGM day could become a down day, and go to the next day.

As for weather in January, I keep being paranoid about it. It sounds like it could be anywhere from lows in the 20's to highs in the 90's!!! Or, in other words, a combination of September/October weather here in Illinois. ;) I'm figuring on packing all sorts of combinations of stuff, and probably needing most of it.

I hope your surgery and recovery go smoothly, and that your kids are nice to you while you are trying to take it easy!!!

Sorry about the mom thing.

I have a feeling once you're back on the DIS, you'll shoot off 10 posts because you'll have all this pent up energy.......

OK, I figured I'd post a quick pic of the first of the dresses I made DD for the princess meals. I think this one will be for CRT:

And some detail:

I'll try to get it ironed and a pic of her in it tomorrow. She's asleep right now, and I just finished it. I have an Ariel pink dress in the making for Akershus and a few school dresses on the table too, all of which I want finished by Wednesday....we'll see if that happens.

Sewing is my therapy (and I use it to procrastinate, too), so I'm sure my WAY TOO EARLY disney outfits will continue. Now I jut need to wash and prep the fabric for DS's outfits. :)

Thanks, Jordan. Like I said, I should be used to this. I was hospitalized 2 years ago over the Fourth of July. My parents were visiting family less than 3 blocks from the hospital and never came to see me i the three days I was there. I'm the only one of the 4 siblings who gets treated like this...I think it's because I'm the oldest (and only one who's married, though this has been happening since well before I got married), so I'm expected to handle things on my own. I dunno.

I'm sure I'll be posting like a madwoman next week. I get REALLY chatty when I'm on pain meds. :sad2:

Like Scar says: "BE PREPARED..." :rotfl:

Cool. Angela on drugs...writing...it should be a treat.:thumbsup2

You are an amazing seamstress...WOW

Just wanted to say hello, Angela! I followed your pre-trip report from the customs thread and I have enjoyed reading it.

I can so agree with you on the bag carrying thing! I also have two kids very close in age...2 boys 1 year and 1 day apart and in those first few years it seemed we hauled stuff constantly! Now the boys are 12 and 13, and we also have 2 dd's ages 7 and 2. Our youngest is just mastering the potty, but I will be so glad to leave diaper bags behind!

I hope your gallbladder surgery and recovery go well! I had mine out several years ago. It was laproscopy surgery and the recovery was really, surprisingly easy. Also, I am sorry your mom is so unsupportive - sheesh!

Wow - that's a gorgeous dress! Puts my feeble sewing skills to shame, that's for sure!

:welcome: Hi! Thanks for reading! And for the hope that I'll get out of this surgery relatively easily! I appreciate it!!

Awwww Thanks Jordan

Hey! The best way to get better is to PRACTICE. And I'm sure your skills are FINE! Don't knock yourself!

Thank you everyone for the love on the dress. DD loves it, and wore it all day yesterday after school. I got a few pics, but nothing great, since she would smile, but kept running away when I tried to take the pics!!

OK, I have a LOT of work to do! HAve a good Saturday!

So, we put up the Christmas stuff today. Broke out the "special" ornaments we got when we were in WDW in May. I can't believe we went so recently, and I am sooo ready to go back. Oh well, I guess I have caught the bug....not that I didn't already know that. I guarantee MIL will buy me another wallet this Christmas in an attempt to get me to ditch the Stitch wallet I currently have. HA!

Yes, Stitch is my favorite Character. I KNOW he's a trouble maker, I just love him. Lilo and Stitch is my favorite Disney Movie. I have an aforementioned Stitch wallet, TWO stitch magnetic grabbers, one of which usually is on my purse, a stitch watch, a stitch keychain, and a small stuffed Stitch.

DD loves Ariel and the Little Mermaid movies (1 and 2). She was Ariel for Halloween (no pics. oops! Bad mommy!). She wants an ariel dress for when we go to WDW that looks like the Cinderella dress. *sigh* life was easier when they jsut thought Mickey had bought/made all of their clothes.

DS loves Mickey, but Dumbo is his favorite movie. He likes Dumbo a lot, too.

Dh doesn't have the Disney bug. He has no favorite character, though he likes Toy Story best as a movie (though he did really enjoy ratatouille, also). He agreed to us going back solely for the convenience factor....WDW is just easy with little kids. No rental car worries, no worrying about child-friendly restaurants...easy.

I think I need to get a Disney Visa and figure out how to get discount codes, since I am trying to swing a long weekend alone this coming Fall, and I want to go to WDW (nd stay onsite, of course).

Sorry, no insights or fun thoughts. Just trying to distract myself from Wednesday and all the work I still have to finish before then.

Maybe next time, I'll discuss my son's love of getting spit on by things....

'Night!

I'm home. had baD reaction to anestheia, leading to 36 hour overnight stay in hospital. many drugs. write more tomorrow. thanks for good thoughts.

:grouphug:

so, as I'm sure you're well aware, there are numerous places scattered across WDW where you can get wet. some of these places, it;s as if you get spit on by different characters.

ds first noticed this at Animal Kingdom. At the park entrance to RC (rfc) there's an elephant blowing water into a fountain. of COURSE ds needed to be picked up to play with the spewing water.

at epcot, we had the jumping fountains. ok, not technically spitting, but necessary diversion.

then came THE MAGIC KINGDOM!! A camel spits on you on the flying carpets?? sign us up!! spitting tiki's?? woohoo!! stitch spits on a lucky rider at stitch's great escape?? we MUST sit in those seats, mommy!! flying water on btmr and Splash? cool!!!

Then came the pinnacle. the end all be all of being spit on:

Stitch at DTD.

ds didn't want toys....he didn't want games...he didn't want food....noooooo...

he wanted to be spit on by Stitch. over and over and over again.

FINALLY we dragged him away (and bought himsomething)....and they found the jumping water.

needless to say, we brought some very wet children home that night.

Now, I have a list of attractions and places in WDW where you can get wet or, even better, SPIT UPON in the parks...but not the water parks...kids are still too young, and getting wet there is the point, isn't it??

this is a partial list, as we have only been to WDW once...feel free to add to it.

AK:
elephant at parkside entrance to RC

Epcot:
Dancing fountains.
Nemo living seas entrance if you don't have a tight grip on toddlers

MGM/DHS
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

MK:
magic carpet ride in adventureland
potc under davey jones
SGE - sit in the wet chairs on the right front upon entrance.
spitting tikis near tiki room
splash mtn (duh)
btmr if you time it right, the geyser'll getcha

DTD:
stitch at world of disney
there is a fountain thing in the sidewalk...i forget where it wa exactly, but the kids got soaked.

This year we're staying at WL, so we'll check out the geyser there, too.

more later. meds wearing off. ooowwwww
