If you know of any fun or interesting facts about DCL, the Magic, or Wonder post 'em here.

For instance, I didn't know that the Magic came first and then the Wonder. Who knew?!

The Magic was actually built at 2 different shipyards - the front 1/2 was built 100 miles away from the back half and the 2 were joined together for the final assembly. The Wonder was built all in 1 piece though.

The hulls of the Magic & the Wonder aren't actually black but a very dark shade of blue.

8,260 cups of coffee are served
cooks scramble, beat, fry, bake, and hard boiled 5,040 eggs
5,390 pillows cushion sleepy sailors

The ships have stabilzers to reduce the motion caused by the sea. These are large "wings" which extend from the hull. The stabilizers must be retracted before the ship goes into port. On the bridge, the way the track whether or not the stabilizers have been deployed is with a small plastic sign that sits on the main console. On one side it says, "FINS IN", on the other, "FINS OUT".

Yes, that's what $500 million buys you.....

When the Magic was making its way to Port Canaveral it was met by a pod of dolphins. Sailors say that means you will have a wonderful journey!

Yes the Magic set sail years before the Wonder. I went on the Magic for the first time in 2000 for 4 nights before there was even a 7 night cruise available. The Magic started going on the 7 nights cruises when the Wonder set sail :) They had to get special permission from coast guard to use the shade of yellow on the outside of the ships :) they may have a third ship added to the fleet... waiting for the money conversion where they were built??

That was going to be mine... special exception to have yellow lifeboats.

Ok, then how about Mickey Statue outside Lumiere's on the Magic and Ariel outside Triton's on the Wonder. Goofy hangs off the back of the Magic, Donald and the boys off the Wonder.

Deck 7 has a "secret" (not to Dis'ers) Verandah.

I believe you can make one lap around the track and it will be a mile (on Deck 4?).

Ain't technology grand!

"Secret Porthole Rooms (SPR)" You get a partially obstructed porthole for the price of an inside cabin.

Magic is Art Noveau, Wonder is Art Deco.

The Dale Chihuly glass sculptures in the atriums of the Magic and Wonder are not made out of glass - they are some sort of "plasic / polymer"

All of the wood that you see on the ship is not really wood. Most is a veneer. You are only allowed so much "real wood" when building cruise ships because wood burns! And fires on cruise ships is the biggest danger there is.

The other way they can tell if the stabilizers are in or out is by standing on the outside bridge and looking down through the "window" in the floor.

Did ja' know that a Cat 11/12 stateroom is 184 sq. ft.?

Actually I think it's 1 lap is a 1/3 of mile, so you need to make 3 laps to go a full mile. The ship is big, but not that big

I wasn't sure... so thank you. As you can maybe tell, exercise was not high on the list for our cruise... :confused3 :teeth:

Does any one know how many hidden mickey's are on the Magic/Wonder?

It's the opposite, actually. The Disney Wonder is themed with art nouveau, and the Disney Magic is themed with art deco.

DCL's terminal is themed to art deco as well, and it's aka Terminal 8.

Animator's Palette cost $20 MILLION to build!

Disney Magic: Beat Street, Rockin' Bar D, Sessions, Off Beat (now Diversions)
Disney Wonder: Route 66, WaveBands, The Cadillac Lounge, Barrel of Laughs (now Diversions)

Duh!! (Where's the Homer Simpson "smile" when you need it) I spent more time figuring out how to spell art, no I mean spell Nouveau that by the time I typed them my fingers got crossed up in mid thought!! (I search for Art Deco (I kan spel dat) to find alternate links that point to Nouveau)

Despite the way it sounds, it is impossible for you to be sucked down the toilet in your cabin. :rotfl:

Even though the Walt and Roy Suites have 9 telephones in them, they only have ONE clock!
