Just called national to add my husbands emerald # to the reservation and they told me my contract code with flying blue was no longer valid and they removed it from the reservation. i just tried it online to see what would happen and it no longer works. Just wanted to tell anyone who was planning on using it.

This is odd. I had to call the other day to change our pick up time.

He confirmed we were using the KLM code, and it remained. He did not remove it, and even gave me a quote of the same price before the time change.

This makes me nervous.

You can no longer use it to book new car rentals but supposedly they are allowing people who booked with the code to use it for their rentals.

Once the code stopped being accepted for new rentals, I emailed National to ask if they would continue to honour our confirmed reservation. Here is their email reply:

Thank you for contacting National. My name is Undra, and I would be happy to assist you with your inquiry. I've located your reservation XXXXXXXXX, and I do see that we will honor the KLM discount. Because the reservation has already been booked and confirmed, we will honor all discounts applied. Please feel free to contact me again, if you have any additional questions or concerns. Thank you for choosing National. We do appreciate your business.

I always prefer emailing to calling, because then I have a written record of their response. I have printed their email reply and will bring it with us, just in case we have any issue at the counter.

I think I will go ahead and do what you did here. I agree it's better to have a written record when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks for posting this.

I see when trying to use the KLM code now, I just get a big "Sold Out" message. Alamo and National have a bad reputation for keeping inactive codes in their system, sometimes for years. Alamo had a Walmart code active for new reservations for a very long time then finally removed it.

I also tried to use the KLM code yesterday and today. Both times it said it was sold out and that was for 2 different cities. I'm guessing it is no longer being accepted.

Thank you for this info and tip. I, too, have a confirmed reservation for a National rental in Oct/Nov and have no intention of messing around (i.e. changing any details) with my KLM score. However, I will do as you did and email for a written confirmation.

I also emailed National, and got the same answer as Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina. They WILL honor my discount for my October trip.

I can confirm that a reservation booked using the KLM code (at LAX) was honored even after they stopped accepting the code. No questions asked, automatically showed up with proper rate at time of drop off.

So long as you don't modify your existing reservation using the code you should be fine. Unfortunately I need to modify my pick up day by one day on a 9 day reservation in December. I may try calling and seeing if they can do it over the phone.

I, too, received an email from National confirming that my rental, booked prior to the KLM code being discontinued, would be honored for the quoted price. Will print email and take with me...just in case.

Did you try calling? I'd like to extend mine by one day and was wondering if calling would be worth it. I've also wondered if I just kept it an extra day if I would just be charged for an extra day at the current rate or if it invalidates the whole agreement... ??

appears as though this modification made the original reservation null since the code is now defunct.

Highly unlikely any rental car company would deny a reservation with a code that was valid at the time of making the reservation, as long as that the renter can provide proof of their eligibility of usage when they pick up the vehicle.

Good news -- it appears the KLM code is active again. Just made two December reservations at MCO using it.

I can't find the KLM code anywhere. National is no longer a "partner" on klm's site either. Anyone have it?
