I have a question about using a klm code from national. Do they actually check to see if you're a member of the fly blue or can you just use the code and be fine ? Thanks for the help

Joining the KLM Flying Blue program is free and open to everyone. There is no reason not to join if you are planning on using the code.

If you are pursuing a rental with National using the discount, join the club and have your membership number with you when you travel in the event that they ask. It just makes good sense to do so.

It's easy and free to join, so why not do so in order to make your use of the code "legal"?

I am using the code in June. Made reservation about 3 weeks ago. Signed up for the FLYING BLUE card online. The physical card just arrived today. Put it with all my vacation information so I am all set.
Easy to do and now we have just in case we are asked for it (you never know as we have been asked for a Costco card and proof of employee verification on RETURN to a location).

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a replacement card? I joined
a few years ago and don't remember getting a card

In the "olden" days they did not issue a card unless you actually flew on the airline. "No-fly" members were Ivory status and they did not waste time or cash on you -- right move in my opinion.

There was a "backdoor" of sorts to print off your own if you were paranoid about it.

Since I printed off my own several years ago, I don't know what they do now, but I bet a good way to find out would be to go on the flying blue website and poke around.

The code has been bouncing around for years, cannot recall reading one post, anywhere, as to somebody reporting be asked to produce a card @ checkin in MCO.

The code is a pretty good one, but it really doesn't work well if you have a free day from National. I tried to apply my free day and the price doubled using the KLM code over simply booking the KLM alone...go figure. :confused3

Dumb question-

I signed up for the flying blue card yesterday. I received my info via email and am all set.

What is the KLM code? I can not find it on the website, and it doesn't show National at all when I try to look for rentals in October.

Thank you!

if you search here you will find an existing thread for October rentals, beneficial to follow it and ones for the month or two prior to watch for codes/trends. The KLM code is 8572130.

I have my actual PVC ivory card and always hand it to the agent at the gate along with our DL's, CC and car ticket and they just hand it right back like it's a 1/2 off car wash coupon from another state. They just don't care.

Just used it for the 4th time on a rental at Seattle Airport. Saved about $200 and went from mid size to full size car. $512 to $316 for a week.

We have never shown the KLM card or even flown the airline.

So I just have to sign up for this free program and I'll be able to use the code for a discount at National?

I'm merely bumping this to let others know about this deal. This code saved us several hundred dollars and it was a free cinch to join the KLM/Flying Blue frequent flyer club online beforehand. We were never asked to provide any backup info by National (but I had the email confirmation handy in case they did).

:thumbsup2

Just used the KLM code for our rental at SFO. Couldn't have been quicker or easier. Great rate, got exactly the car we hoped for. No questions, didn't have to show anything.
