Where can I find a list of the items that are included in the kitchen (1BR and Studio)? I remember being given a list when we closed, but it's not likely I'll find it within the next month. :rotfl:

Also, are there laundry rooms located in each building in SSR? I'll be in a studio for 5 days with my DD6 and DS-17 months before DH joins us, and then we go to a 1BR. I'm just trying to think of the logistics of doing laundry and dragging the kids along with me - especially since DS may or may not be walking yet.

Thanks!

Allison

I'm sure someone will come along with the list, in the studio you'll have disposable plates, cups, bowls. There's a coffee maker, toaster, mini fridge & microwave. In the 1BR you'll have real dishes, silverware, glasses, pots & pans, untensils.

Laundry rooms are not in the buildings, they're located at the quiet pools and there's a laundry room near Community Hall. Grab your laundry with your pool stuff and do laundry while the kids swim or wait till your DH gets in town and do it when you move into the 1BR.

Here's the brief description from Deb Will's site:

The Studio Villas sleep four in a room of 355 square feet. There is one queen-size bed and one full-size sofa bed, one bathroom, a wet bar, small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, and a porch or balcony. Laundry facilities located near the pool.

The One-Bedroom Villas are 714 square feet and have a master suite, living room, fully equipped kitchen, and private porch or balcony. They accommodate four adults plus one child under age 3 in a crib. The master suite has a king-size bed and private bath with a whirlpool tub. There is a fully equipped kitchen that includes a coffee maker, dinnerware, pots and pans, microwave, toaster, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. There is a stack-style washer and dryer, color cable television with DVD player in living room, queen-size sleeper sofa in living room and a private balcony or porch. The master closet has a small safe for valuables.

I've generally found most things I've needed in the 1 br (not salt and pepper), and some wish there were better egg pans, but I've done ok. Sometimes I call housekeeping for missing hot pads or spatulas, once a vegetable peeler and corkscrew, and they're promptly replaced. I usually bring a few plastic containers from the Dollar store, especially when we're in a studio. Blenders are available on request. You might want to bring some plastic bowls for the studio, given your little ones. They will have paper plates, and bowls and plastic utensils.

The laundry will not require quarters, although there are slots for money -- you just push it in to turn the machines on. Tide/Cheer is $1 a box. Most of us bring detergent from home in double ziplocked bags. Sometimes you can find small bottles of detergent at Target. I usually read/jump in the pool while doing laundry. Don't know you'll have that as an option.

Are there specific items you're curious about?

I didn't realize laundry would be at the pool, but then again, that's where it is at POR. A trip to the pool may make DD6 more agreeable to the laundry trip. I've thought about packing enough until we're in the 1BR (5 days worth), but I want to keep the luggage light since I'll have to drag it through the airport by myself!

Should I pack kitchen towels? I'm not big on using paper towels for everything. I was thinking of packing a knife and cutting board - in the checked luggage, of course  - for cutting up fruit, etc. I forgot the studios supplies were paper. I'll have to add that to the list of stuff to buy on the way to the resort, along with salt and pepper!

Thanks all!

Thanks dopeygirl76! That's perfect! That map will be such a great help. I didn't realize SSR was sooooooooo big!

I stayed at SSR Studio this past month. I packed regular towels and ordered paper towels from grocer (did not realize I would have two full rolls provided) as well as two ceramic mugs that I left in unit (we have tons at home!). Unit did come with a kitchen sponge and dishwashing liquid. I also found sissors (sp?) that I packed very helpful as well!

IMHO, I would pack enough so that you can do laundry in your room when DH arrives; I used the laundry facilities near Community House and two of the four washers were broken and people were waiting to use the two remaining washers. But then again, I am out of practice multitasking with a toddler (my DD and DS are 10 and 9)!

Enjoy your trip!

This has nothing to do with SSR, but at VWL the laundry is not near the pool. It is near the front door of the Villas, whereas the pool is at the back of the resort.
