Kissimmee Housing Question

So, my DH got a call back for another interview at WDW and if he gets the position, we'll need to move closer. Last time I worked for the mouse, I lived in a little area of Winter Garden next to DAK. This time, I'd like to see if we can find a house/townhouse/duplex near Kissimmee for a reasonable price and in an area not known for crime. Any ideas folks?

I don't remember there being any neighborhoods necessarily to avoid, but its been awhile (9 yrs). Also, we're looking for unfurnished, long term rental...not to buy!

Any help would be wonderful!

Hi,

They just built a brand new apartment complex near where I live in West Kissimmee. It's on West 192 near Rt. 27. It's called Alta Corners.

Here is the website: Alta Corners

I don't know if it's in your price range but it looks beautiful. It's literally 15 min from Disney. The park it's closest to is AK.

I hope that helps!!!

Thank you! those look gorgeous. I have been able to see a few houses in SW Kissimmee...I think its Poinciana...by Lake Tophopekaliga. I realize they aren't overly close, but they look like nice houses in the $800 range. Other than the distance from everything, is that a nice area?

BTW, I used to live right next to...I'm trying to remember the name of the street....I thinks it's Reedy Creek that runs from 192 to the back way to Animal Kingdom. Fairly close to where you are talking about...on the way to 27

I've only heard, but Poinciana may not be a safe enough area, check with someone who knows the area.

Like Mrs. Milo said, Poinciana is not a nice section of Kissimmee. It's much older and run down. You may want to check Davenport and Clermont.

Late to the party but I'd really avoid most of Kissimmee. It isn't known as the greatest area. If you do - I'd stay as west as you can and as close to the area that Scoobmuzic posted. I'd absolutely consider Clermont or Winter Garden well before Kissimmee.

Thank you all so much! I am going to go over to hang out at DTD while my DH is at his interview. Maybe after that, we can drive around a bit. It's been so long since I have gone over to the middle of the state for anything other than the hospital or Disney, lol
