I have heard of a Kiss Goodnight at MK. But I am a bit confused as to what this really is.

I have heard on the Travel Channel a couple weeks ago that Epcot's Illuminations was a "Kiss Goodnight" and also have seen on the internet that Wishes was considered one also.

Is there such a thing as waiting till the park closes-30 min or so after all the regular fireworks to see this spectacle? Is it worth it?

Mostly I think it is suppose to be at MK. If this is so, will it be done on a MVMCP night?

I am trying to avoid my DH killing me for making him wait around after closing to see nothing. I would never live it down.

Any info would be great!
Thanks

It's neat, but I wouldn't catagorize it as a "spectacle". Basically it's an audio tape telling everyone "thanks for coming, and goodnight!" and they do a few light effects on the castle. If you're there, stick around and watch it, but it's not an "event" like Wishes or anything else.

It's more of a nice suprise when you see it.

We waited and waited and waited and waited for it one night.. I think when we where there over THanksgiving in 02. It never happened. :( My DH would never wait around for it, but when I went with my parents, my mom, me , and the kids waited around to see it. We were pretty disappointed when nothing happened. And we waited for an hour! We even had a CM, who knew nothing about it, walking around asking other castmates what it was, and if it would happen. We leave in a week. Maybe we will give it a try again!

We saw the light on the castle change colors and mikey say goodnight. also on your way out look back at the train station to see Mickey himself blowing you a kiss goodnight. the kids love this one.

Oh wow...we must have been so tired that we didn't even see Mickey wave good bye to us...Next time...

Does this happen everynight? Even in off season? That would make my DD6 day (or night) and cap it off very well for her mom and dad too

When we went last month we saw him. I have been there so many times and this was the first time we had ever seen Mickey waving goodbye to everyone. I thought it was a special thing they just started but I guess not. (I really like to believe he was waving goodbye to me personally since that was the last day we were there;) )

Like many of you, I have been there numerous times and never seen this! It makes me so excited to go back knowing I have something new to look forward to! :wave2:

OK, we are driving in tomorrow for our next trip. We have been numerous times and we always stay for the fireworks (now called Wishes). However, we always leave out -- with the crowd -- right after the fireworks so I have never seen this. I want to see it this time!!!!:earsboy: How long do we stay in the park after the fireworks to see this? Will it be obvious that it is time for me to look for Mickey?

On the MK page, just below Wishes, you'll see times listed for the Kiss. (If you're not familiar with this entertainment schedule - it does get updated weekly.)

We stayed once last year not knowing whether it would happen or not. We didn't even know what to look for. Nothing happened. On our last evening at WDW we went again and saw it. It's a nice way to end the day, but like others have said, nothing spectacular.

I just wanted to reply to the comment about the CM that didn't know about it...

I worked in MK for almost 3 years before I ever heard about it :) It is not something that most people know about as someone else stated it is a "Pleasant Surpirse" even for us. I was working in Liberty Square one night helping to clear the area of day guests when the CM I was working with yelled "Oh it's the Kiss Goodnight" and went running toward the castle. Having never heard of it I followed. I agree that if you are still around shopping on Main Street or had a late dinner it is fun to see it, but I would not wait around specifically for it (unless you have made it a family tradition on your last night at MK or something).

As for Mickey on the train station... He is usually up there waving good bye if you turn around as you leave you will see him. Sometimes, there are CM's on the other side (the park side as you are heading out) with Mickey hands and signs that say C-Ya Real Soon... but they are only there if there was one Spectro and Fireworks... as they are the parade cast (so if there are 2 Spectro's or no Spectro at all they will not be there)... I have even seen Mickey with them (on the City Hall Side) waving good bye...that always makes me smile :)

The last time we went down we saw Mickey at the train station when we were leaving. My kids were so excited you may have thought it was the first time they saw him. They stood there and waved the whole time he was standing up there. I loved it because it ended their night perfectly and they left with the biggest smiles on their faces. A small event by comparison to other things in the park, but sometimes those are the best.

I saw it with rich (dcentity2000) last september! goofydad621-we were there off season. It was one of the best nights we spent in wdw, it was about an hour after the fireworks and the whole park had closed except main street. It was just us and another couple (we didnt see anyone else, except cms sweeping the floor) and when it played it felt like it was saying a special goodbye just to us :teeth:
didnt see mickey waving though?!! :(

As other posters said its nothing too special, but it was worth it just to take your time leaving the park (without the rush) and to be one of the only visitors left there and get some great pictures of the castle!

We enjoy the Kiss when we stay til closing. I agree with Dan, it is one of those little Disney Touches that makes Disney, Disney. We enjoy walking down an empty or nearly empty Main St. afterwards. That is almost as special to us as the Kiss itself.

I have not seen Mickey waving Good-bye, tho. Maybe next time!

One time I straggled behind at MK and saw the castle display happen twice, with a 20 or so minute delay in between. With the booming voice it did not seem like a "kiss" to me.

Other reports on this board have said it does not happen every night.
