DixieDreamer gave me an idea,

How about a KISS challenge. The Low Carb version is described at:

http://www.geocities.com/lajenner/KISS.html

I'm thinking a 14 day challenge would be tough but do-able????

I made a logo if anyone wants to do it.

Here's the logo

I am leaving late this afternoon for a church retreat where I will have no control over what food is served. I will get back tomorrow night. My first day would be Sunday. I printed out the KISS sheet, so I can get prepared.

Anyone else need to delay the start??:D

Pamela - I find it is easier to stay on track during the weekdays anyway... so I think your delayed start will be just fine! :) Be sure to stock up on an abundance of low carb veggies - and eat plentifully of them. :)

DixieDreamer,

I will start on Sunday. It's too late today, and I will be going out for my birthday tomorrow. I don't want to be stressing over KISS appropriate foods for the meal out.

So, I'll have my KISS challenge on in two days :) :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I'm gonna design a "Challenge Survivor" clippie for the grand finale ;)

Woo hoo this should be , uummm, fun????;)

This is just what I need! I'll start on Monday too! (I'll be done with the 2 weeks just as my birthday gets here!)

COUNT ME IN!
Is it okay if I start monday?:D

Do I understand that some butter on the veggies is okay? And no beverages except water, decaf tea, and decaf coffee? I'm sure I'll think of more questions as I go.

Technical note:

I have Days 1-8 clippies up ready to be used.

If you would like to add the clippie to your signature, cut and past the following line. But replace the {} brackets with <>

How's it going so far DixieDreamer?

Keep going, I'm sure you're doing GREAT:bounce:

I'm starting tomorrow-- off to the store to stock up on veggies today

I am through two days at this point - and down 1 pound! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: Feeling better too! It is amazing how the legal "treats" add up and carb creep does happen!

My menu for today!

B - 3 eggs scrambled with diced peppers and onions - large mug of black coffee

L - 4 ounces of roasted chicken breast shredded up on a large bed of romaine lettuce with diced up fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. 2 TBS of Newman's Own Oil & Vinegar dressing

D - 2 roasted chicken thighs and a large serving of steamed green beans with butter.

Herbal tea and water, my usual supplements, and going to get outside and "DO SOMETHING" in this gorgeous weather we are having. :)

wovenwonder - you have it right! True PURISTS would not have mayo, butter or black coffee... but I have all of them and have done just fine. The mayo and butter are almost substantially all fat - so the dairy issue/processed food issue is neglible to non-existent. As for coffee... I have found with my own experimentation that it does not cause me problems. In fact for me, it helps to keep my hunger down.

My husband is determined to drop more pounds but seems to be stalled. He hasn't lost anything in two months. I don't know if he would be willing to try this but I'm going to print this off and discuss it with him. His biggest problem is that he often eats out and I don't know if he could estimate his serving sizes. What do you think?

If he agrees to try this I will do it with him. It's just easier for both of us to follow the same plan :)

Keep up the good work, DixieDreamer :)

I did my shopping and have a house full of veggies. I think for me, the hardest thing to give up will be the art. sweetners. I won't even bother having my decaf coffee since I don't like it without cream and sweet 'n low.

You're already 2 days down, and one pound down! WOW:bounce:

nativetxn - I hope you join us. I think you will be pleasantly suprised at how effective it is. Again, not something I want to do long term as I enjoy nuts, cream, and cheese etc. - but... if you are stuck it is the best way I know to get things moving again.

plutosmyfav - Sounds like you are READY!!!!
:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Today is DAY 1 for me!

B: 3 hard boiled eggs and black decaf tea

L: lettuce, tomatoe, broccolli, mushroom salad with either 4 oz. 93% lean burger or tuna (piw). 2 tbs. Newman's Own O&V.

D: to be determined :)

I'm ready for the challenge. I'll start tomorrow with a fresh weigh in at work (Doctor scales I have hesitated to get on but will now take the step). Then I'll do my best to report every day.

One question - is Canadian Bacon OK? The package I have doesn't list ingredients. It just says "made from sirloin pork hips". Sounds appetizing - not.

Thanks!

Good Sunday morning! I am down another 1/2 pound this morning - at 141. The scale "blipped down to 140.5 a few times before settling on 141 - so I was close to a full pound drop! :) I was good all day yesterday - even though weekends are the biggest challenge for me. I am resolved to do well today as well.

Janed - I don't think Canadian Bacon is permitted on KISS as it is a processed meat (cured) and usually has nitrites and other things added in the curing process. Glad you are joining us!

plutosmyfav - How is it going? Remember to eat what you want of the veggies.

I am back from the shore --- a weekend of NOT eating on program! I will weigh in tomorrow morning and then start my 2 weeks of KISSing. I am interested to see how it works for me. If it doesn't work, then I may consider looking for another way of eating.

I think it would be neat to post our days food journal on this thread at the end of each day. It just might give others ideas on different foods to try during the two week period. I've already gotten some insight on the menu's that have been journalled here already.
:D

So glad you are joining us Jody! :)

Here is my menu for today:

B - 3 eggs scrambled with some diced onions and diced peppers. Large mug of black coffee

L - 2 cups of romaine lettuce and 1/2 cup of diced up fresh cucumber with 4 ounces of grilled boneless/skinless chicken breast shredded up on it and 3 TBS of Newman's Own oil & vinegar dressing.

D - 4 ounces of halibut fillet baked with dill and butter and served with 1 TBS of mayo, 1 1/2 cups of steamed fresh brocolli served with 1TBS of butter

Lots of water, tea, and my usual supplements.
