What a fabalous movie! I really enjoyed it. Can't figure out why it's rated R. I've seen a lot worse at PG13 or even PG movies....

My ds14 really wants to see this movie. What is in it that would be inappropriate for him? Is it only the F word?

Yes, that's it. The King uses the "F" word as part of his therapy. I wouldn't hesitate to let a 14 year old boy see this movie. I'm sure he hears much worse at school. "The King's Speech" is one of the best movies I've ever seen.

It's just rated R for language. There is one scene in particular where a character lets out a long string of profanity, but it's in context of the movie. Honestly, I would have no problem taking a 14 year old to see it, and I am usually a stickler for ratings. Maybe even younger than 14, because it has so many great themes.

It was a terrific movie and very well done. I am planning on getting it on Netflix when it comes out so my 13 year old can see it.

I saw it yesterday and LOVED it! A wonderful movie and Colin Firth was amazing...all of the cast was. One of the best movies that I've seen in recent memory. I would like to own this one.

The only reason it's rated R is for language. Nothing too terrible.

TKS being rated R for profanity is rediculous. It should be PG-13. There is ONE scene with profanity in it as part of a medical treatment. It isn't gratuitous like every other movie out there where they curse just for the sake of cursing (I think back to Four Weddings and a Funeral where the first 87 words of the film are F-bombs for no good reason, etc.) We generally hate gratuitous profanity but had zero issue at all with TKS.

The King's Speech deserves a special Academy Award for best use of profanity.

I love this! *Best use of profanity*

The rule is pretty black-and-white about the F-bomb, though. If it's more than once, it's rated R. If they were to let TKS slip by then other movies would be able to fight the rule, too.

TKS is fantastic, and totally appropriate for younger teens, IMO.

Colin is amazing!!

Great! I'll take him and he'll think I'm a really nice mom. Little will he know that my "dis friends" said it was okay.

I had no idea it was Rated R. I guess I can see why, but it's pretty crazy that at the most 3 scenes make the movie rated R. It isn't even a main part.
We saw it Sunday and I loved it. A great movie all around.

I'd love to see this film. I LOVE history and British history in particular.

I may have to wait until Netflix though.

As for the rating: if the F word is used more then once, it's an automatic R. Also, if the F word is used in a sexual manner, it is also an automatic R. (Just a little piece of information I know. ;) )
