Kingdom Hearts action figures?

Has anyone seen these for sale in the parks? We are going in Sept. and my ds wanted to get them. I know they are available online but thought if they had them in the parks they may be cheeper(HA HA)

It is so funny that you posted this. Just today my son asked me if I would "ask those internet Disney people" if they knew if any Kingdom Hearts merchandise was sold at WDW! Anyone???

A month or so ago there was a similar thread (which is probably totally knocked off the board by now due to post traffic, LOL) asking about Kingdom Hearts merchandise. The consensus was that no one had found any KH merchandise in WDW recently.

I think someone even brought up that, due to licensing/copyright issues, there isn't any KH merchandise sold in Disney theme parks (or by them at all) because Disney doesn't have the merchandising rights. Apparently Squaresoft (the co-creators of KH) has all the merchandising rights. I'm not 100% sure that's true, but it was a VERY plausible reason for the lack of KH merchandise in WDW.

Still, there's always a chance that Disney might have some stuff just due to the semi-recent release of KH2. So i suggest

1) Downtown Disney or
2) Epcot Japan Pavilion's HUGE store. They have a lot of video game and japanese animation stuff there! And even if you don't find KH stuff there, its still a great store!

After getting back last week, I'm sad to say there is nothing available, on Disney property, that's Kingdom Hearts-related EXCEPT for the games. After talking to many managers and a merchandising rep, "due to licensing issues, we don't carry licensed items in the parks..."

Bah .. I STILL don't understand. Disney owns the Kingdom Hearts franchise .. why can't they at the VERY LEAST sell the non-Square-Enix characters on property? Sora, Riku, Kairi, Ansem, Xehanort, Xemnas (sorry - having fun with that) and the Disney characters as well? *sighs* .. I'm tired of importing these things from Japan all the time.

It's really too bad they don't sell any KH merch in Disney. What really confuses me is why Square doesn't allow Disney to sell them on Disney property. I mean...when you think of all the purchases that would take place!! It would mean more money for Disney AND Squaresoft from the sales as well as increased publicity! What better place to sell Kingdom Hearts merchandise (in the US) then a Disney Park!? Even if Square just cut a 50% cut on the profits, it still would be better then not selling it at all! Well, I guess...?

Maybe its an issue of costs and net profit. Maybe Square just thinks it would end up costing them more to produce the figures and not get a full profit from it (by splitting gains with Disney). Or maybe they underestimate how big KH merchandise would sell in Disney World. Granted a lot of the older folks might not be familiar with the game, there's a LOT of Disneyworld-going fans that are familiar and would be overjoyed to see merchandise as well as walking characters! I'd go nuts if i saw Sora walking around (not to mention Cloud or Sephiroth!). Or even saw Donald or Goofy in Kingdom Hearts outfits! Let's get some KH spirit into the parks!

But yeah, like you said, back to my trusty import stores for KH merchandise and soundtracks

I was in the Disney Store over the weekend and if I'm not totally mistaken, I think that I saw some of the Kingdom Hearts merch along side of the Narnia stuff. This was at the Disney Store in the Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, PA.

Maybe I'll take a ride over and double check.

My DS9 has just caught the Kingdom Hearts craze. I don't know what he'd do if there was merchandise at the World when we go this month!! Beg for more of my money I'm guessing .

My DS (10) plays this while DD (8) watches...she just likes to see the characters.
