King Crab's Disney & Other Dining Reviews June 2009

Boy,

You guys know how to do seafood! We live in Southern Illinois and don't get to the city very often, but The Palms might be our next stop. We have been eyeing the Swisshotel! Thanks for the report:goodvibes

Sounds like you had a few disappointments and some winners. Now you are making me hungry for seafood.

thanks folks, we did really well, and had a great time everywhere we went regardless.

Orlando while it does have alot of chains has some gems.

Now you have me so hungry for crab claws. :)

OK - I loved how you had pics and food reviews right from your first post - no teasing!! THANK YOU :worship:

Thanks for your reviews, especially Johnnie's Hideaway! I came across that place in my own research and like all seafood places it had mixed reviews, but you just made it look too good! :)

Although we ate only appetizers @ Johnnie's, I wouldnt have hesitated to get an entree based on what I was served & what the menu looked like. The staff was professional, and friendly, and it was definitely one of the hits of our trip food wise.

THANK YOU so much for taking pictures of Kimonos Sushi Bar. We are staying at the Swan on our next trip and my 4 year old son loves California Roll so its a good place for us...I wanted to try the Kobe Beef satay and thanks to you I can't wait to try.
How far of a drive is Johnnie place?

Kimonos was very good, and empty @ 5:30 when we got there on a Saturday night. I guess kareoke(sp) starts around 9:00.

Johnnies is very close to downtown Disney, We took I-4, and it was only about 10 minutes from Pop.

Last food pics of the trip. We left Pop around 9:30 last Saturday, and headed west to St. Pete beach for a day in the sun before driving home. Stopped @ Chick Fil-A for lunch and loved it. A great chicken sandwich, and mikshake. We have to get a Chick Fil-A closer to where I live.

We went to Maderia beach, and I was happy to find you can drink beer on this beach, so I enjoyed the hot sunny day, and a few cold ones. For an early dinner we headed further south to a place called The Hurricane, it came recommended by a book I had and it was a very good final dinner in Florida, great crab and shrimp bisque, awesome, fresh peel and eat shrimp, and a very good fried grouper Po Boy. Great view out of the open deck, and a good time

All in all a great food vacation down to central Florida, I am sure we spent more on dining out than we spent on our room, the park ticket, and our rental car for the week, but it was worth it. I had heard bad things about Orlando dining, and came away impressed, alot of research, checking out menus, and as many reviews as I could paid off I think.

I hope everyone who looked enjoyed my pictures, and comments

slainte.

man.... its been almost 5 years since the last trip down....

Coming back Spring break 2014(march), looks like the food scene in Orlando is improving.

Doing only 1 day at Disney(gonna be in Orlando 3 nights, then off to the coast for some Grouper and shrimps), got reservations for the California Grill for supper, need a lunch spot in the Kingdom that is decent.

Johny's crab looks great ! I don't think i've ever had stone crab , but i really wanna now ;)
