Has anybody ever stayed in a King Bed room at Port Orleans Riverside? I'm thinking of booking there for a week next year and was looking for some opinions. Any particular building or location that I should ask for? Would I have much of a choice if was requesting a king bed room? Thanks for the help!

We did in last Sept. We requested the Mansion section since it appeals to me more than Aligator Alley. The buildings were very pretty and we were just a short walk across the bridge from the main building and bus stop.

I've never stayed at Port Orleans Riverside before (only French Quarter). What is the difference between the Mansion section and Alligator Alley? Thanks!

The non-mansion section of POR is actually called "Alligator Bayou". We prefer the look and feel of the mansion section (Magnolia Bend). Can't help with the king room as we've only stayed in rooms with the two double beds. Have fun!

We had a king room at POR in both sections, mansions and alligator bayou. We were first had a room in the Acadain mansion. The room face the parking lot and once inside it smelled funky. I don't know if it was mold or that someone smoked in it and it was an attempt to cover it up. My DH was okay with the room, but I wasn't. I also didn't like the furnishings of the room. I thought they could have done more, like a mock canopy for the bed or a four poster king bed. It was just a wooden head board that looked like it could be at any hotel.

DH and I went back to the check in desk and asked if we could be move into the Alligator Bayou section (where I wanted to be). We were moved to building 39 and got a corner king room without a parking lot in sight. The beds are raised high and we loved the room. The bed had a head board and a foot board that looked like logs. We stayed in this section back in 2001 and I didn't really care for the room with the old decor, but I really liked the new decor. The blue bed spread and curtains were a great improvement.
