I was going to get a Kindle soon but just saw the ad for Ipad which can be an electronic reader too.

Has anyone considered getting an Ipad instead of a Kindle?

I have a Tom Tom, but now Itouches have navigation and the Tom Tom is sitting on our electronic pile not being used :( I thought it might be the same with the Kindle.

I have a Kindle and I looooove it!

I think the main difference is in reading comfort and eye strain. The Kindle is designed just for reading and for long term reading.

The Ipad can also be a reader, but that is not the main thing it was designed for. It has a back lit screen which is not easy on the eyes for long periods.

So if you want something for reading books, I would go with a Kindle. If you want something that will also read books but do lots of other things, then I would get an Ipad.

Not sure about the different book formats and how many are available. That would also be a consideration.
