Has anyone used Kindle Unlimited and if so what are your thoughts on it? Cannot decide to sign up or just continue to buy books as and when I need them.
I have been a subscriber for about 6 months and I like it. The selection of books is good, though the browsing interface leaves something to be desired and you sometimes have to wade through a lot of e-book-only garbage to find better reads, particularly in categories like political/historical non-fiction and romantic fiction where the self-published masses seem to congregate. I usually do my browsing on the computer, rather than on my tablet, because it is easier to sort the "real" books (that have print editions or are by established authors) from the vanity e-books.
We have it and I use it constantly. I love it because I can try a book and if I don't like it, I haven't wasted money buying it. Between our library's ebook lending and Amazon Unlimited I am never without a good book!
I had a trial when I bought my Voyage and did not find it worth it. As Colleen27 said there's a LOT of junk books to wade through. I'm a super picky reader though.
I read over a hundred books on my unlimited account each of the last couple of years, but a LOT of those are junk pulp sci fi, you can read in an evening. However, I'd be buying and reading my junk sci fi anyway (I do read proper fiction/classics/histories and lots of philosophy too), but I love the Kindle Unlimited account. There are a great number of classics included, but you could also read them on project Gutenberg or any other public domain type of sites for free as well. Hopefully you'll enjoy it. I can't say enough good things
As it an author, it is a great help, though it seems like my borrows have declined of late.
I think they may have taken away some Prime perks, where they could rent a book a month.
If any of you have alexa, you can actually have alexa read book to you. Not the audio books but any kindle book. I mean it's robotic, but I bet it would be good for child reading along as I think you can adjust speed.
I love it. Been a member for almost 2 years. I read a lot so it's great to be able to go on and download a couple of new books whenever needed. I have come across a few terrible books but for the most part I've been happy with what I've read. Totally worth the money for me.

No, you still get a book a month. I get a notification every month about it. The selection is too limited for me though, I rarely bother. 95% of the time if I'm reading a book it's a new release.
