We have a Kindle fire. My kids will be mainly using it on the airplane. Can I download movies for them to watch (even though we won't have wi-fi)? I know they can play some apps without the wi-fi but I'm really hoping they can watch movies!

It would have to be a movie that you've purchased. American Airlines does offer WiFi on board for about $12.95. I don't know if they would be able to "share" that though, or if you would have to purchase multiple accounts. HTH

I just bought a Fire myself and needed to know the answer to this questioin too so thanks for asking!

Have you ever used the WIFI on the plane? just wondering if it is fast enough to be worth paying for it.

Thanks!

I took my KF with me on a plane. You can't stream movies (I.e. Amazon prime) but you can download movies to watch. I rented a few movies before we left but I didn't download them until right before we flew. There is a 24-48 hour time limit on rentals once they are downloaded. You can also buy movies from amazon and download them to the Fire too.

I didn't use the WiFi, but my friend did and she said that the speed was fine. When I travel with my son later this year (he has the Kindle Fire), I will definitely purchase it for him.
