I downloaded two just to give it a try: Slow Hands by Leslie Kelly and Irresistible Forces by Brenda Jackson - I believe these are both from the "romance" category, which I usually don't read - But I didn't want to spend the $$ on a book just yet. I wanted to just try the whole process. I love this app, btw! It works great and now I can read on the go!!!

If anyone has any good Kindle recommendations, I would love to hear them as well.

Cool, I'll be downloading this tonight when I get home!

What is a Kindle?? Im so confused. :confused3 :confused3

Go to amazon.com. It's their hand held reader and you find out all about it there. They also just came out with the application version for iPhones and Touches, though it's not exactly the same as the real Kindle.

I have been reading the Stephanie Plum series on my Kindle and it's pretty entertaining. And there are like 14 books in the series to keep you going... all under $8 or so. If you do want them the first 3 are available as a group for $10 (which I woulda known that)

How do I find the free books? I have an iphone and this would be great.

on itunes download the kindle app. then go to amazon.com and click on the kindle store. search for books and 'buy' them. you'll need an amazon account, even for free ones. then when you open the app on your iphone/touch the book is there.

it works great! i can't believe kindle would allow it.

I've got the app and found 2 free books of interest. Anyone have any recommendations for good free or low cost books, so I don't have to sort through all of them?

What books did you find, if I might ask? Always looking for the free books. I listed mine a few posts up. Thanks!

Giving this a bump, because I'd like to know of some good free books, too, for the Kindle app on my iPhone.

The free selection for Kindle is kind of limited. However the Stanza app (free) for IPhone/Touch has a greater selection of free books. Alot of older classics are free on Stanza, the app works great too. I have both Stanza and Kindle but uses Stanza more because of the free books. I just finished Benjamin Button and Pride and Prejudice. Currently readng Sense and Sensibility.

Thanks for this post. I just downloaded Stanza (have Kindle as well) and also dowloaded the book "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom" by Cory Doctorow. It was free so I thought why not. Has anyone read this book? Also, was Benjamin Button free? The one I found cost $$. Thanks!

Never mind - found it:thumbsup2

I had a Sony E-reader (grr....my purse was stolen and it was in it) and the thing I liked about it was being able to download books for free from the library.

At my library it's called the Digital Overdrive Library, and books come in the Adobe PDF eBook or Mobipocket eBook. I download the PDF file and it can load on the eBook reader.

I also download books from the Sony eBook library.

Can you do the same for a Kindle? Can I transfer the books I've bought from SOny to Kindle?

Thanks

julia

Just adding on a few more threads with info to check out about Kindle and also downloading Free ebooks for those who do NOT have Kindles or e-reading devices yet. I know not everybody goes over to the overly snarky DIS Community Board. :duck:

Just finished Slow Hands, I actually ordered the companion book, Heated Rush for $3.60. I've read several of the free Harlequins and they're not bad , quick and mindless. I've also downloaded some Heather Grahams as well. almost everything bestseller wise is available for Kindle.
