If you have the Kindle 3 which cover/case do you use? Which one is best? Do I need a screen protector?

Thanks!

No need for a screen protector.

I use the Amazon cover with the integrated light and I'd never use anything else. I fiddled with clip-on lights for a long time before that cover and they never worked as well.

Right now I have an M-Edge Latitude case and I'm very pleased with it. I do plan to get an Oberon at some point, but they don't make the style I want in the color I like best (I want Bold Celtic in wine) so I'm dragging my feet to see if they come out with something new I love. I intend to keep the Latitude until I get the perfect Oberon, and I might keep using it occasionally even after that. I like the fact that the Latitude zips all the way around so nothing in my bag can get between the cover and the screen.

There are great reviews about all sorts of covers on the Kindle Boards and the Amazon Kindle community. The one cover I've consistantly heard bad things about is the Amazon non-lighted cover. There have been lots of reports of people having problems (freezing, rebooting, low battery life, memory issues) with their Kindles in those covers. The working theory is that the hinges are too long and touch something inside the Kindle which causes some sort of short in some Kindles.

I'm partial to M-Edge. I have two...

My first was the M-Edge GO! Kindle Jacket.

It's a great cover. I like how low profile it is.

My second is the M-Edge Platform Kindle Jacket.

This is a flip-top jacket, which I find makes it easier to hold the jacket (which I feel is easier than holding the Kindle while reading). I suppose it would also be good standing on its own (though I don't use that capability). The Platform jacket is a bit beefier than the GO jacket (which may translated to more protection).

Both covers are animal-friendly. Both covers work with (the same) M-Edge e-Luminator booklight (sold separately - note that there are two booklights: The e-Luminator and the e-Luminator2. The e-Luminator2 is for the Kindle DX covers. The original e-Luminator is the one you want for the regular Kindle 3s.)

I've looked into Oberon covers, but they're not animal-friendly.

Do I need a screen protector?
No.
