Kindle 2 Out Today!!!!

Amazon has announced Kindle 2 this morning - increased battery life, increased storage, thinner, new text-to-speech capability, etc.

Can't wait - I already ordered with 1 Click and my delivery date is March 2.

Anybody else ordering Kindles today??

the website said if you have previously placed an order for Kindle 1, and have not yet received it, your order will automatically be upgraded to Kindle 2. You need to do nothing.

Yes, apparently it's a new feature. The voice is being described as "GPS' like - a mechanical voice. You can choose male or female and can speed or slow the voice to suit you.

I've only had mine since November so I can't see getting a new one yet, though the faster page turning is certainly tempting. I don't know if it's worth plunking down another $359 though.

I just put my order in. They gave me an estimated delivery date of February 26.

We already have one that my uses and I occasionally borrow. This will be Kindle #2 for us.

Yes, this is Kindle #2 for me as well. DD15 will be getting mine and I will get the upgrade. I think my daughters will use it between them when they can/need to - they are both big readers so I am sure this will come in handy at some point!!! Also, DD20 is an English major so if she has a heavy reading load next semester I will let her take it to school.

I upgraded to one day shipping and now my date is February 25th!!
