My kindle arrived yesterday and I have read the user manual, downloaded a couple of sample and I almost downloaded a book that I have a paperback copy of. I knew I like that book. I just haven't had time to read it. When I downloaded the sample, I knew it sounded familiar.Today, I hope to go through the list and see what I want to read. Is there a "free" list?
For "free" books you can just go on the main Kindle Books page on Amazon and look at the top "selling" books. A lot of the free books will be on that list. Also Kindleboards.com has a section called book bazaar and they had a monthly thread with free books. I have found that Amazon will have an earlier title from an author to get you hooked, particularly series. Then you want more from the author. You can get public domain books free. But sometimes the formatting on the free public domain books isn't great. I am reading "Eight Cousins" by Louisa May Alcott, and there are no quotation marks. Kind of like reading T.S. Elliot.
As far as covers go, I actually have 2. I got an Oberon Designs cover first. Beautiful hand made leather covers. Very addicting. My second one is a Javo Edge Flip cover. It also works as a stand for the book to rest it on the arm of the chair. I like to read and knit at the same time if I am just doing straight knitting.
I love my Kindle. I was able to take 150 books on vacation with me. No matter what my mood was, I had something to read.
