I am currently student teaching in a kindergarten classroom, we just started school last week. I was wondering if anyone had any good websites with some nice activities or lesson plan ideas? your own classroom management strategies that you wouldn't mind sharing?

and of course any advice and tips would be appreciated. :thumbsup2
Thanks!

I don't teach right now (was preschool) - but I can give you some good websites.

dltk-kids.com
daniellesplace.com
enchantedlearning.com

Use your teacher....copy anything you can get your hands on & keep it in a file @ home - you'll be glad you did

As far as discpline goes - remember to start strict then relax as the year goes on - you can never go stricker if you're too laid back in the beginning.

Be consitant - if you count backwards 54321 or clap a rhythm they have to copy or say 123 eyes on me or turn off the lights make sure you stick with it & follow through.

YOu'll need a reward system - you can just do a treasure box - they go to daily or weekly or 1 teacher I worked with used a token economy - essentially kids got tokens/tickets that they could use to purchase items from the teacher (junk toys - LOL) and maybe a classroom reward - marble jar when its full they get a popsicle party or an extra 15mins on playground or 30 mins more of gametime.

You're teacher should be full of ideas - pick her brain! She'll know what's worked & she's there to guide you - the good thing is you're starting the year with the kids - they'll know your ways not the teachers - so you can choose whatever system you want & not have to do what she does if you don't want...

you can PM me if you have any other questions

I like virtualvine.com and kellyskindergarten.com I also use themailbox.com but you have to have a subscription to the magazine to use that one.
Management strategies - get lots of rest at night. Kindergarten uses every ounce of energy you have! :) We have a song for everything - washing our hands, lining up, sitting on the floor, writing our name on our paper.
And lately (we've been in school since the beginning of July) instead of talking louder, I've started talking in a really quiet voice when I want them to listen and sort of making them strain to listen. They get very quiet and intent if they think I'm telling a secret. :)
Good luck!

as far as managment we use the harry potter magic fingerr alot. take our index finger like a wand and say harry one, harry two and hen bring our finger o your lip and go shhhh. works well with preschoolers. we also clap. i clap first, the clap back ill were all clapping then i give direcitons. our classroom has loud noise issues. we also sing ,do as im doing falllow fallow me. stomp our feet to the door then stomp some more, while u wait. makes waiting easier.
