So my question is kinda Disney-related/kinda not. Any input would be great!

I am quickly becoming a caffeine addict (Thank you, Starbucks :headache: ) so I know I will want coffee in the morning while getting ready to head to the parks. But I also know the coffee in the parks and food courts is TERRIBLE. And I'll drink anything, seriously, except for that stuff (whatever it is, because it sure ain't coffee :rotfl: ) Which brings me to my question(s):

Is it a good/plausible/convenient idea to bring a press pot on my next trip? I've never used or owned one before, so I don't know how they work. I don't drink an insane amount of coffee-- I ususally just fill up the resort mug (which I buy new every trip :thumbsup2) and my DM usually drinks the same amount. And if I do bring a press pot, what kind should I bring? Is there a brand that's better than most? Are they all pretty similar? Glass or plastic? I get so lost in the options, but I know there's someone here on the boards that can help me! Thanks so much in advance, I really appreciate it!!!

Where are you staying? There is good coffee at the Contemporary (Wave), Polynesian (kona and the coffee bar), and at the Swan/Dolphin (starbucks!!)

A press pot is a good idea. I can't drink coffee and usually bring a fresh tea maker. It is similar to a press pot - plastic and small though.

I just wanted to plug Kona for great coffee. When I could drink it they had the best!

One one trip we brought our french press and a electric pot that heated up water. On our next trip we brought the Starbucks Via packs. The french press gives MUCH better coffee. We bought a pound of good coffee and had it ground appropriately. The Via packs were a lot easier (wet coffee grounds are kinda messy).

We're staying at CBR this time around...I'm sure it's good for scenery, but no good for coffee!

PS: How easy is it to get to Kona or Swan/Dolphin?!

Thanks Emily :) What brand of french press did you have? And if you don't mind me asking, what was the going rate of it?

There are travel french presses you can get! I've heard of some the size of about a pop can but taller. I think getting something like that would be good.

I've also heard great things about the Starbucks VIA packs. I've yet to try them, but I hear they're REALLY good and so convenient!

That's what I was looking at: there's one on amazon right now that's pretty big (32 oz) and only costs about $20. That might be my payday treat next time my check rolls out!

I've used the VIA packs before, and I like them...but it still just tastes like instant coffee to me. It's not bad, don't get me wrong. It just doesn't taste like steeped coffee grounds and that's what I like in the morning. I gotta have that extra boost to keep up the energy in the parks, haha!

PS: I hope you're feeling better, Yuki!

It's been awhile since I stayed in a moderate, but don't they have coffee makers in the room? I remember when we stayed at POFQ, I just brought coffee with me and made it in the room. Granted, the pot was small, I had to make 2 pots in the morning, but it worked fine.

Great find on amazon! I have a coffee maker at home and drink at least 2 cups a day  Hm...I still need to try Via already....

I'm feeling much better now thanks! There's just this stupid cough I can't seem to shake :sad2:

I love the coffee at Kona....I never miss it. Once you get to MK..just jump on the Monorail and go the Poly...it's worth it !!!!

Yes, there are coffee makers in the moderate resorts. A pressed pot might make better coffee, but the stuff from the coffee maker (IMO) is perfectly acceptable and MUCH better than anything from the food court.

FWIW, we have a plastic press pot that we use for camping. I don't think I would pack it, though. I would just bring good coffee and some filters since the free in-room coffee isn't really great.

Thank you guys so much for the input :) I think I might just get a press pot for days we're not going to MK. And on those days, I'll hop on the monorail and head to Poly for a Kona press pot! I love posting questions on here- I get a ton of answers and help! Thanks again, everyone!!
