Okay dh and I aren't newly weds, but we enjoy doing certain things while on vacation.. :rolleyes2 . Anyway, if we stay onsite for the perks..what about your love life? What do you do or where when you have kids? My kids aren't infants by any means and I don't think I want to miss out on a great opportunity for.. well you know..What do you do for privacy? Just do without until you get back home or lock yourselves in a bathroom? And another question, how do you stand being cooped up in a room on site for a week with kids constantly..I mean when I want a vacation I want a little me time after the parks, dinner, shopping, and seeing the sites.

Jumping over from the Disney side... don't know if they have it at Universal but at Disney it's called "Neverland Club". The kids have a blast and you get a romantic evening... we usually go to dinner but what ever suits your fancy.

You can book a king suite, where you have two separate rooms divided by a door. Or, you can book connecting rooms. Not sure how old your kids are, but there is a kids club on-site that does group child care.

There is nothing wrong with Watching "American Idol" alone without the kids.....Hmm...that is what you meant isn't it? :confused3

take along a bottle of Nyquil, that'll knock the kids out for the night.

My son loves the pool and won't come out until they kick him out. Lots of alone time. :thumbsup2

Dpending on how old your kids are, I believe each resort has a day care-like area they can do special activities. I don't recall the cost, though. If your kids are old enough, you can send them to the pool to splish and splash around. Perhaps you can even send them to an I-Drive attraction for a few hours. Otherwise, consider booking separate rooms or a suite.

Are your kids accustomed to you showering together to "conserve hot water"? It gives you a handy excuse for some alone time without the kids needing too much brain bleach.

I have no clue how much it costs to stay onsite at Universal, but there are alot of nice rental homes in the area that rent for around $79.00-$99.00 a night.
I personally like the "shower together to conserve water" idea, but unless my kids were asleep, it would just seem too weird for me.

This is why we bought DVC and why we stay in timeshare rentals - privacy and space. In Sept. we are getting a 3BR at HGVC Sea World, for only $650 for the WEEK. Lots of space to stretch out, large hot tub for 2, places to go when our little ones nap/sleep at night. We LOVE it. Honestly, DH won't go on vacation now if it is just to a hotel room, we can't take it anymore!

I dont know how old your kids are but if they are old enough to go to the movie theater in Universal, let them and you can sneak off for a little while. If they arent try and set up a special tour w/ a sitter.. it will cost you a little bit of money for a sitter to come but it will be well worth it for an evening of Pleasure! :)

A good friend's daughter is attending UFC in Orlando and she has babysat for other friend's kids when we go up. She'll take them out or watch them in the room (maybe not a locked bathroom). PM if interested. The king suite would work the easiest. You even have 2 TVs for cover.

UFC? Ultimate Fighting Championships?

sorry, couldn't resist

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Mother Fletcher I appreciate the sitter, but dh has already booked us for Cypress Pointe Grandvillas, so I guess we will have plenty of room and privacy for fun when the kids go to bed. Universals onsite perks must be pretty good to make people give up *** for a week! :rolleyes1
