kind of feel sorry for them

I wouldn't feel sorry for them at all, they have to want to be treated like this. I am sure Mom and kids could walk around and ride the monorail totally un noticed if they wanted to. I would also be willing to bet that as a sport star he could probably walk around in normal clothes without the fanfare and be relatively un bothered. Except for a few, out of their element in casual clothes they(sports stars) aren't that easy to spot. At an airshow my DH spends a lot of time at each year there are some big stars walking around without fanfare and mostly unnoticed at least not bothered picture Harrison Ford in cargo shorts and T-shirt (who he has seen).

That's kind of what I was thinking. Unless this guy is Micheal Jordan, they probably could just "do Disney like the normal folks"! Did you tell her how much your kids and you love doing all of those special things? I really think I would encourage her just to "be normal" for a day and see what they think. It would be really interesting to know what she thought of the experience! In my experience with the wives of sports players I have know (Kansas City area) it is them and not their husbands that really expect the celebrity treatment.

I would love to have a car to take us wherever we wanted to go every day! We have actually talked about how great it would be if that were a possibility in the future. As for the planning, I love to plan, so no matter what I would be planning out every detail of my trip, but the ease of a chauffeur, give me one any day! I like the boats and the monorail as much as the next person, but a personal chauffeur-now that would be tops! Granted, we are a couple without children and I would want my kids to be able to enjoy the boats and the monorail.

I feel sorry for them, especially if they feel that they have to do things that way to enjoy their vacation without people bothering them. But seriously, I have seen celebrities there and the rest of us are having a good time and delaing with our own families to bother them. We might say, " Hey, there's so-and-so", but we are not going to track them down. Sometimes, you cannot even tell who they are because they blend in. They should try and enjoy the vacation, without always worrying how they are going to keep people away.

Don't get me wrong, this family is quite down to earth and I am sure could walk around anywhere without being discovered. I am also sure that they have a wonderful vacation no matter what they do or don't do in WDW. My point is that as I was speaking to her and trying to make suggestions (she asked BTW) the "little" things that always make my trips so special really (transportation, adr's, etc.) are not an issue to them, but I know they can enjoy those things also if they truely desire. I just felt a bit sad for the children kind of missing those little extras but they get BIG extras that I don't. ;)
"to each his own"

BTW~~~ beautifully said Sleeping Jedi~beautifully said!!!!

I completely understand what your saying. It's funny how some tend to appreciate the little things at Disney while others just dont get it. My daughter loves to collect all the stamps from the different worlds at Epcot. She also likes to decorate the masks. Anyone who has done this knows that it can be very time consuming. While we were at Disney this past April, I heard a father tell his family that there was no way that he was going to waste time collecting those stamps when there are so many other things to do. I kind of felt sorry for his family for being so rushed and he probably felt sorry for all the people (including my family) who didnt get to see and do all the things that his family did.....You were so right when you said "to each his own" :thumbsup2
